Silvia Frigato, soprano, studied piano and graduated in singing at the
State Conservatory of Music in Adria (RO). She continued her training
with Raina Kabaivanska at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali in
Modena, the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and Sofia State
University (BG). At the same time, she deepened her study of the 17th -
18th century repertoire under the guidance of Roberta Invernizzi, Sara
Mingardo, Marina De Liso and Lorenzo Ghielmi. In 2007 she won the 4th
International Baroque Singing Competition 'Francesco Provenzale' in
Naples and in 2010 the 4th Early Music Competition 'Fatima Terzo' in
Vicenza.
Silvia carries out intense concert activity in the most important
Italian and foreign venues, collaborating as a soloist with prestigious
international ensembles and with the most important names on the
musical scene. Notable past engagements include: Bononcini's Stabat Mater and Messa a cinque at the Wiener Konzerthaus and Caccini's L'Euridice
(title role) at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik with
Concerto Italiano and Rinaldo Alessandrini (both recorded for Naïve);
Handel's Israel in Egypt with Nicholas McGegan on tour in Italy; Pergolesi's Stabat Mater with
Sara Mingardo and Concerto Italiano and Rinaldo Alessandrini at the
Salle Gaveau in Paris, Rome and Bilbao and in Basel with La Cetra and
Andrea Marcon; concerts with Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo
and at St. Mark's Basilica in Venice with the Orchestra of the Fenice
Theatre conducted by Stefano Montanari; Mozart's La Betulia Liberata at the Wratislavia Cantans Festival with Orchestra B'Rock conducted by Corrado Rovaris; Caldara's Morte e sepoltura di Cristo with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra conducted by Fabio Biondi in Stavanger and on tour in Spain (CD for Glossa); Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with Federico Maria Sardelli conducting and Denis Krief directing; Caldara's La Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo (Marta) in Herne with Accademia Bizantina and Ottavio Dantone; Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea (Amore) at the Teatro alla Scala in a new production by Robert Wilson conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini.
She also took part in concerts in Karlsruhe with Concerto Romano and
Alessandro Quarta, in Naples with the Talenti Vulcanici and Stefano
Demicheli, in Basel with the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and in
Lausanne with Il Canto d'Orfeo conducted by Gianluca Capuano.
Silvia Frigato has been chosen by John Eliot Gardiner to take part in Monteverdi's Vespro della Beata Vergine
with the Monteverdi Choir and the English Baroque Soloists and in the
Monteverdian Trilogy for the roles of Amore and Valletto in L'Incoronazione di Poppea and Amore in Il ritorno di Ulisse in patria in
world tour in the cities of Aix-en-Provence, Bristol, Barcelona,
Venice, Salzburg, Edinburgh, Berlin, Wroclaw, Paris, Chicago and New
York, to triumphant critical and public acclaim.
Other engagements include: Jommelli's L'isola disabitata at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples under the baton of Rinaldo Alessandrini; Pelléas et Mélisande (Yniold) at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under the baton of Daniele Gatti and directed by Daniele Abbado; Monteverdi's Vespro della Beata Vergine in Prague and Dresden, Biber's Missa Salisburgiensis at the Salzburg Festival and a concert at the Utrecht Festival with Collegium 1704 and Vaclav Luks; Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in Venice and Milan (Pomeriggi Musicali); the performance of the complete cycle of Webern's Lieder for the Bologna Festival; concerts on tour in Germany with La Risonanza and Fabio Bonizzoni (Trigonale Festival); Vivaldi's Juditha Triumphans (Vagaus) at the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara; Martinu's Mirandolina
(title role) at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice; a cycle of Lieder on
poems by Schiller and contemporary music at the Palazzo Farnese in
Parma. She also took part in the Monteverdi 2.0 project conceived by
Jean-Christophe Spinosi with the Ensemble Matheus on tour in France.
Last seasons she sang in Falla's El retablo de Maese Pedro (Trujamán) at the Teatro Regio in Parma; Pergolesi's Salve Regina and Stabat Mater in Madrid with Sara Mingardo and the Accademia Bizantina conducted by Ottavio Dantone; Bach's Cantata BWV 52 at the Teatro del Maggio in Florence; Paisiello's La Serva Padrona in Lugo and a solo concert in Rouen with Rinaldo Alessandrini; Monteverdi's L'Orfeo in Barcelona and on tour in Asia with Rinaldo Alessandrini and Concerto Italiano; Krenek's La Sonnambula (Lisa) and Cefalo e Procri (Procri) at Teatro La Fenice in Venice; Caldara's Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo (Marta) with Collegium 1704 and Vaclav Luks in Prague and Dresden; Pergolesi's Stabat Mater at the Teatro Le Fenice; Haydn's L'isola disabitata with the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla conducted by Enrico Onofri; Angelo in Händel's La Resurrezione in Brunnenthal; Marco da Gagliano's Dafne

opening concert of the Musikfest Bremen with Concerto Romano and

Amsterdam (Concertgebouw) and Pavia (Teatro Fraschini); a Baroque
concert with the Nederlandse Philharmonisch Orkest; Handel's Apollo e Dafne in Helsinki; Ciro in Il Trespolo tutore with Ensemble Mare Nostrum conducted by Andrea De Carlo concert and recording in Caprarola and in Genoa and Valtinoni's Pinocchio, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Juditha Thriumphans at the Fenice in Venice; Logroscino's Stabat Mater at the Ravello Festival; Pélleas et Melisande at the Teatro Regio in Parma; and a series of concerts in Bologna, Ravenna, Cremona.
She recently starred in L'incoronazione di Poppea in Budapest, then on stage in Geneva and Vicenza, in Orfeo et Euridice in Cagliari, Battistelli's Le Baruffe at La Fenice in Venice, Stradella's Giovanni Battista in Genoa, Vespro della Beata Vergine at the Monteverdi Festival in Cremona and in Mantua, and Stradella's La Susanna in Warsaw; La Forza dell'amor paterno (concert and recording) with Ensemble Mare Nostrum and Andrea de Carlo in Viterbo.
Upcoming engagements include: a series of concerts conducted by Maestro Onofri with La Toscanini in Parma; Messiah in Brescia; Pelléas et Mélisande in Modena and Piacenza; Orfeo ed Euridice and Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno in Venice; as well as various baroque concerts in Italy and abroad.
Silvia has recorded for the Glossa, Naïve, SDG, ORF, Brilliant, Tactus,
Discantica and Ricercar labels; his recordings have been broadcast by
RAI, Radio France, BBC, ORF and other European broadcasters.
