Raffaele Abete is first prize winner 2018 at the “Etta e Paolo Limiti”
Competition in Milan and prize winner 2018 at the “Ottavio Ziino”
International Singing Contest in Rome.
Mr. Abete made his debut at the Arena di Verona as Ismaele in Nabucco
in 2015.
Other engagements include: Romeo in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette
for the opening night at the Arena di Verona; Don Ottavio in Don
Giovanni and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor in Bergamo and
Chieti; La Bohème in Verona (Filarmonico) and Tirana; Rigoletto
again at the Filarmonico in Verona and in Chisinau; Madama Butterfly in
Torre del Lago and in Bologna; Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in
Milan; Le Villi in Cagliari; La Traviata in Rovigo,
Livorno, Lucca; Don Carlos in Bern.
In 2016 he made his American debut at the New York City Opera as
Cavaradossi in Tosca with great success and he then starred as
Duca di Mantova in Rigoletto at the Opera Grand Rapids, Toledo
Opera, and Opera Carolina. He also sang the same role at the Teatro
Comunale in Bologna, Festival Verdi in Busseto (Parma) and at the Sesto
Senso Opera Festival in Taormina.
Most recent engagements include: Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly
at the Massimo Bellini in Catania, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Teatro
Filarmonico in Verona, Essen and Leccce; Aida at the Arena in
Verona; Tosca in Trieste and Jesi; La Traviata in Zagreb;
world's première of Campogrande's Opera Italiana at the Festival
della Valle d'Itria Festival in Martina Franca; Stiffelio in
Dijon; Tosca in Jesi; Madama
Butterfly in Essen and Le Villi in Mainz. Plans include,
among others a Traviata in Massy.
With regard to the concert repertoire, he sang in Verdi's Requiem
in Taranto, Matera and Tirana; Puccini’s Messa di Gloria in Verona
(Filarmonico); a contemporary work (Sub Tutela Dei) at the Massimo
Bellini in Catania and a series of concerts at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie
in Liege, Bonn, Copenhagen and in Italy.
Born in Naples, Mr. Abete studied at the Conservatorio di Musica Domenico
Cimarosa in Avellino under the guidance of Maestro Pasquale Tizzani,
specializing with Luciana Serra, Renato Bruson and Lella Cuberli.
