Antonio Garés graduated in guitar at the Cordoba Conservatory and began
studying singing with Juan Luque Carmona, before continuing his studies
with Donatella Debolini at the Conservatorio "L.Cherubini" in Florence.
He was selected for the Rossini Opera Academy in Canada directed by
Alberto Zedda and debuted the role of Dormont in La Scala di Seta.
He also attended the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro and the Accademia del
Maggio Musicale in Florence.
In May 2015, he made his debut in the Zarzuela "El Duo de la Africana"
in Cordoba. Important debuts followed: Ramiro in La Cenerentola at
the Teatro Comunale Pavarotti in Modena; Don Basilio/Don Curzio in Le
nozze di Figaro in Cesena and Forlì; Gastone in La Traviata
at the Festival Verdi in Busseto and Le metamorfosi di Pasquale
(Marchese) by Spontini in Jesi (Dynamic recording).
At the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, he took part in productions
of: Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali (Tenore tedesco); Il
Barbiere di Siviglia and La Cenerentola for schools; Carmen
(Remendado); Trittico (Il Tinca); Rigoletto (Borsa); La
Traviata; Un Ballo in maschera; Linda di Chamounix;
Adriana Lecouvreur; Siberia; Falstaff conducted by
Sir John Eliot Gardiner; Le nozze di Figaro (Don Curzio) conducted
by Zubin Mehta at the Teatro della Pergola; Ariadne auf Naxos
(Tanzmeister).
He debuted the role of Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at the Pretoria
Theatre and also sang Rodrigo in La Donna del Lago at the National
Theatre in Zagreb and at the Hessisches Staatstheater in Wiesbaden; Il
Barbiere di Siviglia in Wiesbaden; and Il viaggio a Reims
(Don Luigino) at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. More recently he
sang: Doge in Rossini's Otello in Pesaro; Parpignol in La
Boheme at the Filarmonico in Verona; Nemorino in L'Elisir
d'amore in Lisbon; Der Kaiser von Atlantis at the Massimo in
Palermo; Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Zagreb; and Il Flauto
Magico (Tamino) in Ancona; Bertrando in L'Inganno felice in
Rome and Rieti; Guglielmo in Donizetti's Alfredo il Grande in
Bergamo; I Vespri Siciliani (Tebaldo) at the Teatro San Carlo in
Naples; and Il Turco in Italia (Albazar) in Rovigo, Ravenna,
Jesi, Rimini, Novara and Pisa.
Also active on the concert side, he has performed Mozart's Requiem,
Kodaly's Te deum, Rossini's Petite messe solennelle
(conducted by Alberto Zedda), Orff's Carmina Burana, Handel's Ode
to Santa Cecilia and starred in Rossini's Miserere and a
Rossini concert at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.
Upcoming engagements include: La Fanciulla del West in
Naples.
