Agostina Smimmero graduated in operatic singing from the “S. Pietro a Majella” Conservatory in Naples with top honors, winning first prizes in prestigious competitions such as “Montserrat Caballé,” “Rosa Ponselle,” and “Simone Alaimo.”

She made her debut at a young age in the role of Tancredi at Teatro La Maestranza in Seville alongside soprano Mariella Devia and tenor Gregory Kunde. Since then, she has debuted principal roles in her repertoire: Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana directed by Andrea Cigni and conducted by Sergio Alapont; Azucena in Il Trovatore at Teatro Mozart in Zaragoza and later at Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos in Lisbon, where she also debuted Maddalena in Rigoletto; La Baronessa di Champigny in Il Cappello di Paglia di Firenze at Teatro Comunale di Firenze, conducted by Andrea Battistoni and directed by Andrea Cigni; Mercedes in Carmen at the Auditorium of Milan conducted by Jader Bignamini; Fenena in Nabucco in the Marchigiano Circuit; Lola and Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana on tour in Italy. She also performed in La Campana Sommersa by Respighi in Cagliari, Nabucco in Las Palmas, and took part in the production of Suor Angelica at Teatro San Carlo in Naples.

She frequently ventures into contemporary repertoire, performing in numerous galas alongside renowned artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Paata Burchuladze, Montserrat Caballé, Fiorella Cedolins, Sergi Giménez, Nicola Martinucci, Montserrat Martí, Joan Pons, Roberto Servile, and has also sung for Pope Francis in a live worldwide broadcast on Rai and Sky.

Recently, she performed Ulrica in Un ballo in maschera in Piacenza, Ravenna, Ferrara, Cagliari, Parma, Naples, Rennes, Nantes, Cologne; Falstaff in Cagliari, Nice, and Antibes; Il Trovatore in Oviedo; Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony in Milan for Pomeriggi Musicali; La Gioconda in Barcelona, Piacenza, Modena, Reggio Emilia, Toulouse, at the Filarmonico in Verona and for the Lombardy Circuit; Cavalleria Rusticana in Palermo, Matera, Bologna, Salerno, Arena di Verona, and Turin; Rigoletto in Taormina, Parma, and Verona; Il Trovatore and Nabucco at Teatro Regio in Turin; Gianni Schicchi in Brescia, Pavia, Cremona, and Como; Madama Butterfly in Cagliari; Petite Messe Solennelle in Verona; Rigoletto in Muscat; and La Gioconda in Catania and Cagliari.

Among her engagements for the 2025-26 season is Cavalleria Rusticana in Lugano.
