Mariangela Sicilia - Isabella
Operalia Prize winner Mariangela Sicilia is one of the most exciting young sopranos
to have come out of Italy in the last few years; she has been seen, in the past
seasons, in Massenet's Cléopâtre (Charmionand) at the Salzburg
Festival under the baton of Vladimir Fedoseyev; Il Viaggio a Reims, La
Donna del Lago (Zedda conducting) and L'Italiana in Algeri at
the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro; Cilea's L'Arlesiana at
the Wexford Festival Opera and in Jesi; Rigoletto in Bari (d. Kief).
Mariangela Sicilia has recently performed L’Elisir d'Amore in
Madrid (c. Piollet; d. Michieletto) and in Monte Carlo (c. Stutzman); La Pietra
del Paragone (Chatelet) with Jean Christophe Spinosi and Musetta in La
Bohème (c. Elder) in Paris Opera; Petite Messe Solennelle in
Saint-Etienne under Zedda; Guillaume Tell at the Teatro Comunale in
Bologna, (c. Mariotti; d. Vick); Orphée et Eurydice at the Teatro
Massimo in Palermo; Verdi’s Quattro Pezzi Sacri (Concertgebouw)
and new production of Benvenuto Cellini (Térésa- Dutch National Opera
& Ballet) directed by Terry Gilliam and conducting by Mark Elder in Amsterdam;
Adriana Lecouvreur in Paris.
Future plans include Guglielmo Ratcliff at the Wexford Festival
Opera under Francesco Cilluffo; La Scala di Seta (Franklin conducting
and Michieletto directing) and Mozart’s Requiem in Liège under
Paolo Arrivabeni; Turandot (Liù) in Montpellier; La Bohème and La
Petite Messe Solennelle in Palermo; Mozart Requiem in Parma;
Carmen at the Teatro Regio in Turin. Ms. Sicilia will return to Concertgebouw
in Amsterdam singing the Petite Messe Solennelle.

Giulio Mastrototaro - Ormondo
Giulio Mastrototaro studied under the guidance of Vito Brunetti and graduated with
honors in singing at the "Claudio Monteverdi" Music Conservatory in Bolzano
in 2002. He won the As.Li.Co. competition with Belcore in L'Elisir d'Amore and
the "Best Performer" award for Donizetti's Pietro il Grande (recorded
be Dynamic) at the Martina Franca Festival. Among his past engagements, it is worth
mentioning: L’Italiana in Algeri at the Teatro Sao Carlos in Lisbon, Iphigénie
en Aulide with Riccardo Muti at the Teatro dell’ Opera in Rome, Il
Turco in Italia in Leipzig and Vicenza, La Cenerentola and L’italiana
in Algeri in Avignon and Reims, La Gazza Ladra, La Gazzetta, in
Wildbad, Le Nozze di Figaro in Potsdam, La Bohème, Così
Fan Tutte and Don Checco at the Teatro San Carlo in
Naples, Gianni Schicchi at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia conducted
by Vladimir Jurowski. Mr. Mastrototaro lately sang La Cenerentola in
Massy, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro in Frankfurt, Bartolo in Il
Barbiere di Siviglia in Trento, L’Elisir d’Amore in
Florence, La Cenerentola and La Traviata in Vienna,
L’italiana in Algeri in Valencia, Il Turco in Italia in Treviso,
Ferrara and Catania.
Plans include: Così fan tutte in Savona and Trento; and L’Italiana
in Algeri Treviso, Ferrara and Massy.
