Director - W

Yannis Kokkos, born in Athens and active in France since 1963, is an internationally renowned set and stage director. He collaborated extensively with Antoine Vitez and has created productions for major theatres such as the Opéra de Paris, Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Staatsoper, and Théâtre du Châtelet. Since 1987, he has combined his work as a set designer with a successful career as a director. He has worked with conductors such as Muti, Abbado, Mehta, and Gergiev, and has received prestigious awards including the Prix du Syndicat de la Critique, two Molière Awards, and the Laurence Olivier Award.

Interweaving market indices thread their way across a screen only to fall out of the picture as world time clocks whizz clockwise and anti-clockwise. The scene significantly dissolves into a red brothel. Later, a supermarket animated by the Swingle Singers crooning camp jazz as they push their trolleys around leads on to a stark concentration camp...
