Cornelius Smith, an American tenor, has established himself through his
exceptional timbre, dramatic talent, and refined musicianship. He holds a
degree in Musicology from the University of Tennessee and graduated from
the American Conservatory of Music. He made his debut in 1998 at the
Salzburg Festival in Kurt Weill’s Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt
Mahagonny. He has performed at world-renowned opera houses including
the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Deutsche Oper Berlin,
Royal Danish Opera, and Norwegian National Opera. At the National Theatre
Mannheim, he sang leading roles such as Calaf, Don José, Otello,
Cavaradossi, and Dick Johnson, also debuting in productions of Don
Carlo, Der Freischütz, and La Wally.
