Riccardo Zanellato won the Operalia Competition (1996) starting a distinguished career that saw him perform such operas as Don Carlo, Rigoletto, La Bohème, Turandot, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Le Nozze di Figaro, I Puritani, Don Giovanni, I Masnadieri in the most prestigious theaters in the world. Much appreciated by Riccardo Muti who invited him for the productions of Iphigénie en Aulide and Moïse et Pharaon at the Opera in Rome, he regularly collaborates with such institutions as the Teatro Regio in Turin, the Arena in Verona, the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Verdi Festival in Parma, the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia, the Liceu in Barcelona, the Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, The Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp and the Opéra de Lausanne.
He recently performed: Nabucco and Macbeth under the baton of Riccardo Muti in Rome; La Forza del Destino (Padre Guardiano) in Vilnius and under Gianluigi Gelmetti in Parma; Luisa Miller in Lyon; Mosè in Egitto (Mosé) at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro; Lucia di Lammermoor at the Settimane Musicali in Stresa; Verdi’s Requiem at the Festival Verdi in Parma.
Future plans: Luisa Miller in Bilbao under Evelino Pidò; Aida at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan; Nabucco in Antwerp; Poliuto and La Bohème at the Opernhaus Zurich;and Verdi's Requiem with Violeta Urmana in Vilnius.
