Born in Milan in 1985, he pursued vocal training under M° Vincenzo Manno
while studying Musicology at Pavia University, where he graduated magna
cum laude. He was admitted twice to the Gstaad Vocal Academy (2009, 2010).
In 2015 he is chosen by William Christie as one of the six young talents
selected all over the world that will participate to the seventh edition
of “Le Jardin des Voix”: in the following international tour with Les Arts
Florissants in Europe, USA, Russia, Australia, Korea, China and Japan, he
drew the attention of the critics and got some enthusiastic reviews
("Renato Dolcini played the mad scene of Orlando to the hilt and would
surely have chewed the scenery, had there been any" - The New York Times).
Highlights of the past seasons were: Vivaldi's Bajazet and
Caldara's Dafne (Peneo) for the Teatro La Fenice in Venice;
Lully's Armide at Drottningholm; Rameau's Platée at the
Zurich Opernhaus; Les Indes galantes (Bellone) at the Grand
Théâtre de Genève conducted by Leonardo Alarcon and in Rimini with
LaToscanini; The Representation of Soul and Body conducted by
Giovanni Antonini at the Wroclaw Festival; Handel's Giulio Cesare
(Curio) at the Teatro alla Scala also with Antonini, Agrippina (Pallante)
in Hamburg, Ariodante (King of Scotland) at the Bolshoi in Moscow,
Radamisto on a European tour with the Golden Apple; L'incoronazione
di Poppea (Ottone) at the Opéra in Nantes in a new production by

Gardiner for the Monteverdi Tuscany Festival; Handel's Messiah in
Milan with LaVerdi Barocca, La Resurrezione with Bonizzoni and La
Risonanza in Brussels, Brugge and Metz and a series of concerts at the
Handel Festival in Halle; Bach's Christmas Oratorio in Milan; Johannes-Passion
on a European tour with Les Arts Florissants and at the Concertgebouw in
Amsterdam conducted by William Christie; Matthäus-Passion in Milan
with the Symphony Orchestra; Mozart's Vesperae solennes de Confessore
with Ghislieri Choir and Consort and Giulio Prandi in Berlin and
Eisenstadt; Scarlatti's Il Martirio di Santa Teodosia and Sedecia
re di Gerusalemme at the La Chaise-Dieu Festival.
Upcoming engagements include: Rameaus’s Les Fêtes
d'Hébé at the Opera Comique in Paris.
Renato Dolcini stars as Orfeo and Apollo in
“Stravaganza d’Amore!”, Raphaël Pichon and Ensemble Pygmalion's disc
for Harmonia Mundi, which has been acclaimed with Diapason d’Or and Choc
de Classica among other prizes.
