Born in Romania, Marius Brenciu has a repertoire that includes roles such as Alfredo in La traviata, Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra, Macduff in Macbeth, Fenton in Falstaff, Ismaele in Nabucco (Verdi), Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, the title role in Idomeneo (Mozart), and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti), to name a few. He has performed at venues such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Staatsoper in Vienna, as well as in Berlin, Brussels, Paris, Lyon, Munich, Lisbon, Geneva, Toulouse, Florence, and Rome, among others. Recent engagements include Rodolfo (La bohème) in Hamburg and Tel Aviv; Alfredo (La traviata) in Berlin, Rome, Brussels; Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia) in Lyon and Lisbon; Adorno (Simon Boccanegra) in Hamburg; and Macduff (Macbeth) at the Edinburgh Festival and in Amsterdam.

He made a successful debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in La rondine (Puccini), a role he subsequently sang in Paris and Toulouse. Other recent performances include Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) in Berlin and Tel Aviv; Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) in Amsterdam; Lensky (Eugene Onegin) in Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Zurich, Toulouse, Lyon, Tokyo, Lisbon, Tel Aviv, Cardiff; the title role in Idomeneo (Mozart) at the Opéra National de Paris; Eugene Onegin in Montreal; Jenůfa in Toulouse; and The Magic Flute in Muscat.

Marius Brenciu has worked with such esteemed conductors as Claudio Abbado, Seiji Ozawa, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Simone Young, Ion Marin, Kent Nagano, Valery Gergiev, Sylvain Cambreling, Marco Armiliato, Ton Koopman, Lothar Zagrosek, Sir Charles Mackerras, Stefan Soltesz, Gianandrea Noseda, Jacques Delacôte, Mstislav Rostropovich, Herbert Blomstedt, Kiril Petrenko, and Dan Ettinger. He has performed with leading orchestras including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Gewandhausorchester, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, NDR Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Academy of Ancient Music, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and Orquesta Nacional de España.
