Marius Brenciu was born in Romania. His repertoire includes Alfredo in La traviata, Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra, Macduff in Macbeth, Fenton in Falstaff, Ismaele in Nabucco (Verdi), Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, the title role in Idomeneo (Mozart), Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor (Donizetti) and many other roles.
He performs regularly at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Vienna Staatsoper and the opera houses of Berlin, Brussels, Paris, Lyon, Munich, Lisbon, Geneva, Toulouse, Florence, Rome and many others. Marius Brenciu's recent opera activities included Rodolfo (La Bohème) in Hamburg and Tel Aviv; Alfredo (La Traviata) in Berlin, Rome, Brussel; Count Almaviva (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) in Lyon and Lisbon, Adorno (Simon Boccanegra) in Hamburg; Macduff (Macbeth) at the Edinburgh Festival and Amsterdam. He made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 2008 with an overwhelming success in La Rondine (Puccini), opera which he also sang in Paris and Toulouse.Other performances included: Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) in Berlin and Tel Aviv; Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor) in Amsterdam and Lensky (Eugene Onegin) in Vienna und Munich, Berlin, Zürich, Toulouse, Lyon, Tokyo, Lisabon, Genf, Israel and Cardiff and the title role in Idomeneo (Mozart) at the Opéra National de Paris.
Recent egagements included: Evgenij Onegin in Montreal; Die Zauberflote in Muscat and Jenufa in Toulouse.

Marius Brenciu collaborated with maestros as Claudio Abbado, Seiji Ozawa, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Simone Young, Ion Marin, Kent Nagano, Valéry Gergiev, Sylvain Cambreling, Marco Armiliato, Ton Koopman, Lothar Zagrosek, Sir Charles Mackerras, Stefan Soltesz, Gianandrea Noseda, Jacques Delacôte, Mstislav Rostropovich, Herbert Blomstedt, Kiril Petrenko, Dan Ettinger, with orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Gewandhaus Orchester, Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest, NDR Sinfonieorchester, the BBC Philharmonic, the Academy of Ancient Music, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Orquesta Nacional de Espana.
