Andriy Yurkevych - conductor
While a
student he started working as a conductor at the State Liric Opera and Ballet
Theatre in Lviv where he performed operas of the Russian and Italian repertoire
along with operettas and ballets. After his debut at Opera in Rome he earned an
impressive reputation at international level with many invitations at the Monte
Carlo Opera, the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, the Bayerische Staatsoper, the
Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro Municipal in Santiago (Chile), the Greek National
Opera and the San Franscisco Opera. Mr. Yurkevych enjoys a continuous and
successful collaboration with the world famous soprano Edita Gruberova,
conducting: Norma in Berlin Mannheim and Duisburg; Lucrezia Borgia
at the Klangvokal Musikfestival in Dortmund, Dresden and Köln; and several
concerts in Munich (Herkulessaal), Vienna and Frankfurt. Mr. Yurkevych lately
conducted: Norma in Paris (Salle Pleyel), Nice and Koln; The Swan Lake,
Anna Bolena and Il Mago di Oz at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale
Fiorentino in Florence; Norma in Palermo; Evgenij Onegin and
Macbeth in Gdansk; The Pique Dame in Warsaw; Roberto Devereux
in Zürich and Madrid; Aida in Riga; L’Elisir d’Amore in Berlin
(Staatsoper). Active also on the symphonic field, he boasts a repertoire that
spams from Tchaikovsky, Rimski-Korsakov, Glinka, Mussorgsky, Shostankovich.
Mr.
Yurkevych also served as Music Director of the National Theatre in Odessa.
His
upcoming projects include: Anna Bolena and Roberto Devereux in
Zurich; Der Fliegende Hollaender and Rigoletto in Warsaw; Norma
at the Wiener Staatsoper; Turandot in Santiago de Chile; Anna Bolena
in Budapest; revivals of Il Mago di Oz in Florence; a ballet at the Terme
di Caracalla in Rome; and a series of concerts with the Münchner Symphoniker in
Munich.
