Accademia Monteverdiana is a week-long series of master classes personally taught by Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Ten up-and-coming baroque singers are invited each year to enter the Accademia, living in residence at Monteverdi Tuscany in Castiglioncello del Trinoro (Siena) for a week-learning, rehearsing and practicing the music of Monteverdi and other Baroque composers, all under the direction of Mr. Gardiner.r.
During the 2014 Accademia, our first year, several amazing new talents were discovered and developed, most notably Francesca Aspromonte, Adriana Di Paola and Krystian Adam. Since the 2014 Accademia, these young singers have dazzled the opera world and are now appearing in major concert halls throughout the world.
In a May 3, 2015, review, The New York Times reported: “John Eliot Gardiner and his Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists brought down the curtain (and the house) there with a concert performance of Monteverdi’s first opera, “L’Orfeo,” of 1607… And the soloists were mostly superb, none more so than the soprano Francesca Aspromonte… the real star of the production was the tenor Krystian Adam, who sailed through the long and difficult part of Orfeo on both evenings.”
