Yannis Kokkos - director
Yannis Kokkos made his debut as set and costume designer working with stage director Antoine Vitez. Appreciated for the elegance of his productions, in 1987 began to dedicate himself to directing opera productions such as: Pizzetti’s Assassinio nella cattedrale at the Teatro alla Scala, Ariadne et Barbe-bleue in Geneva, Death in Venice in Liege, Tristan und Isolde at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Zelmira at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Norma in Paris, Pelleas et Melisande in Toulouse, Tancredi in Madrid and in Turin, Iphigenie en Aulide in Rome, Die Frau ohne Schatten in Florence, Giulio Cesare in Egitto in Bilbao.
He received the Gold Medal of the Prague Quadrennial and the Laurence Olivier Award for best opera production with his La Clemenza di Tito.
Future plans: Der Fliegende Holländer at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna and at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples; Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci in Toulouse.
