Following critically-acclaimed performances at the Teater an der Wien in Francesca da Rimini and Iolanta in January, Pirgu returns to Austria this summer for three prominent engagements; a new production of La Traviata by Deborah Warner and conducted by Omer Meir Wellber at the Wiener Festwochen followed by Dvorak’s Stabat Mater in Graz with Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Styriarte Festival and then a return to Salzburg Festival for Berlioz’s Messe Solennelle with Riccardo Muti.
Other future engagements include: Don Giovanni at the Arena di Verona directed by Franco Zeffirelli; La Traviata at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he is returning in the next seasons; I Capuleti e i Montecchi in San Francisco; Rigoletto at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, Zurich; La Favorita and Rigoletto at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse; L’Elisir d’Amore in Vienna; Così Fan Tutte in Moscow; La Bohème in Washington; Great mass in C minor with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Chicago again under the baton of Riccardo Muti; Macbeth at the Teatro della Pergola in Florence with James Conlon; La Bohème in Washington.
