Shortly after his debut at the Liceu in Barcelona Saimir Pirgu returns to Paris for a production of Don Giovanni by award-winning film director Michael Haneke in April. Following critically-acclaimed performances at the Teater an der Wien in Francesca da Rimini and Iolanta in January, the Albanian tenor will return to Austria this summer for three prominent engagements; firstly a new production of La Traviata by Deborah Warner at the Wiener Festwochen followed by Dvorak’s Stabat Mater in Graz with Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Styriarte Festival and then at the Salzburg Festival for Berlioz’s Messe Solennelle with Riccardo Muti. Other future engagements include: Don Giovanni at the Arena di Verona directed by Franco Zeffirelli; La Traviata at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where he is returning in the next seasons; I Capuleti e i Montecchi in San Francisco; Rigoletto at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London and Zurich; La Favorita at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse; L’Elisir d’Amore in Vienna; Great mass in C minor with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in Chicago.
