Asher Fisch - conductor
A seasoned conductor in both the operatic and symphonic worlds, Asher Fisch is
especially celebrated for his interpretative command of core German and Italian
repertoire of the Romantic and post-Romantic era, in particular Wagner, Brahms,
Strauss, and Verdi. Mr. Fisch also conducts a wide variety of other repertoire
from Gluck to contemporary works. In 2014, Mr. Fisch became the Principal
Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO).
His former posts include Principal Guest Conductor of the Seattle Opera
(2007-2013), where he concluded his tenure conducting the Opera's quadrennial
Wagner Ring Cycle in summer 2013, Music Director of the New Israeli Opera
(1998-2008), and the Wiener Volksoper (1995-2000). Praised by critics as one the
finest interpreters of our time, Asher Fisch has brought his extensive
repertoire in the greatest theaters and with prestigious orchestras as: the
Chicago Symphony, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra,
the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Israel Philharmonic, the Tokyo's NHK and many
others. Recently he conducted: Elektra, Die Zauberflöte, Manon Lescaut, Der
Fliegende Holländer and Werther in Munich; Un Ballo in Maschera in
Hamburg; Fedora at Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. Mr. Fisch also
conducted Orchestra Regionale Toscana in a series of concerts in Florence and on
tour in Tuscany.
Plans include: Der
Fliegende Holländer, La Traviata and Il Trovatore at Bayerische
Staatsoper in Munich; Tristan und Isolde at Metropolitan Opera in New York; series of concerts in
Perth, Tokyo, Sydney, Stuttgart, Abu Dhabi, and on tour in USA. Mr. Fisch will
return to Turin conducting Die Zauberflöte.
