Saimir Pirgu - Alfredo
Recent successes include: La Traviata and King Roger at the Royal
Opera House Covent Garden in London under the baton of Antonio Pappano, Duke of
Mantua in Rigoletto and Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore in Vienna;
Alfredo in a new production of La Traviata in Berlin under the baton of
Daniel Barenboim; Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni at the Arena in Verona,
Stefano Montanari conducting; Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera in Tel
Aviv with Zubin Mehta; Rigoletto in Toulouse Daniel Oren conducting;
Falstaff in Chicago at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Riccardo Muti
conducting; Verdi’s Requiem in Amsterdam with Marc Albrecht and in Paris
with Gianandrea Noseda and the Orchestre de Paris; Puccini’s Messa di Gloria at
the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Paolo Arrivabeni conducting; Verdi’s Requiem with
the Orchestre Philarmonique du Luxembourg; Berlioz’s Requiem Op.5 with
the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Tugan Sokhiev conducting in
Moscow and in the next months on tour in Vienna, San Sebastian and Oviedo.
Saimir Pirgu was recently engaged in a world concert tour presenting his new
solo album Il mio canto, published by Opus Arte.
Other plans include: Don Giovanni at the Wiener Staatsoper;
a new production of Madama Butterfly in Zurich; La Bohème (c. Marc
Piollet-d. Jonathan Miller), Macbeth and Roméo et Juliette at the
Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona; revivals of King Roger at the Sydney Opera
House, Andrea Molino conducting; a new production of Rigoletto at the
Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, Damiano Michieletto directing; L’Elisr
d’Amore at the New National Theatre in Tokyo; Simon Boccanegra and
Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples. On the concert
side, Mr. Pirgu will sing Verdi’s Requiem in Barcelona with the London
Symphony Orchestra and in London with the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra and Vasily
Petrenko at the Royal Festival Hall; series of concerts in Taiwan; a gala
concert at the Chorégies d’Orange.
