Nicola Alaimo studied in Palermo, his hometown. He won the “Di Stefano” Competition in Trapani, where he made his debut in 1997 in La Cenerentola (Dandini). He then attended the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro, performing Raimbaud in Le Comte Ory under the baton of Alberto Zedda, and performed several times at the Wexford Festival Opera. Nicola Alaimo specialized under the guidance of Simone Alaimo and Vittoria Mazzoni.

Mr Alaimo made his stage debut at the Ravenna Festival in Il Trovatore (il Conte di Luna), directed by Cristina Mazzavillani- Muti.

Amongst the engagements of the beginnings it is worth mentioning: Le Convenienze e Inconvenienze Teatrali (Procolo) in Bergamo; Un Ballo in Maschera in Palermo; Il Dissoluto assolto (Don Giovanni) at the Teatro alla Scala directed by Cobelli; Falstaff (title role) in Ravenna and on tour in Italy; Don Pasquale (title role) in Palermo conducted by Wilson; Donizetti's Poliuto (Severo); L'Italiana in Algeri (Taddeo) in Pisa; La Forza del Destino (Fra Melitone) at the Maggio Musicale in Florence under Zubin Mehta.

He enjoys a prolific collaboration with Riccardo Muti, having performed: Il Matrimonio Inaspettato (Tulipano) at the Salzburger Festspiele and in Ravenna; Otello (Jago) in Salzburg and in Rome; Rossini's Moïse et Pharaon (Pharaon) at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan staged by Luca Ronconi and at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome; and Don Pasquale in Vienna, Liege, Köln, Paris (Salle Pleyel), at the Ravenna Festival, in Malta, Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Particularly interesting is his collaboration with the Rossini Opera Festival where he made his debut in 2010 singing La Cenerentola and becoming a reference performer for the main Rossini's roles; in the past seasons he returned to Pesaro starring in important productions such as Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Matilde di Shabran, Guillaume Tell (Mariotti/ Vick); La Gazzetta; Il turco in Italia and Torvaldo e Dorliska.

Highlights of his successful career include: La Traviata (Germont) at the Ravenna Festival conducted by Patrick Fournillier and staged by Cristina Mazzavillani- Muti and at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome under the baton of Gianluigi Gelmetti; Falstaff in Montpellier, Piacenza, at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and Bamberg; Moïse et Pharaon at the Salzburger Festspiele; Caterina Cornaro (Lusignano) in Amsterdam; Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Bartolo) Ravenna, Palermo, Liège and Padova; a brilliant US debut with Simon Boccanegra (Paolo) with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the baton of James Levine, then at the Metropolitan in New York well he also sung L'Elisir d'Amore.

Then he starred in: Lucia di Lammermoor (Lord Enrico Ashton) in Palermo; I Masnadieri (Francesco) in Montpellier; La Forza del Destino (Fra Melitone) at the Opéra Bastille in Paris.

Mr. Alaimo made his debut in Wien with L'Elisir d'Amore (Belcore), and he sang for the first time Dulcamara in Messina and Sancho in Massenet's Don Quichotte in Cagliari; Don Pasquale (title role) at La Scala in Milan, Teatro Real in Madrid, Opera in Rome; Attila (Ezio) at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome under the baton of Riccardo Muti; La Cenerentola at the Opéra National de Paris and at the Salzburg Festspiele with Cecilia Bartoli; Belisario in London recorded for Opera Rara; Stiffelio (Stankar) at the Opera de Monte Carlo; Gullaume Tell (title role) at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Brussels (under Pidò) and Monte Carlo and at the Theatre des Champs Elysees in Paris with great success of critics and public.

Among his recent success it is worth mentioning: L'Elisir d'Amore (Dulcamara) in Berlin, Naples and in Modena; Luisa Miller in Liège; Le Comte Ory (Rimbaud) and Falstaff at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan; I Puritani (Sir Riccardo Forth) at the Teatro Regio in Turin; Gianni Schicchi at the Teatro Real de Madrid; Rossini's Stabat Mater in Santander, Alberto Zedda conducting; Fauré's Requiem in Florence.
