Maria Laura Iacobellis graduated in Opera Singing at the age of 18 and
later obtained a second-level degree in Musical Disciplines with a
specialization in Opera Singing, earning top marks, honours and a special
commendation at the “E. R. Duni” Conservatory of Matera. She also studied
Composition, graduating with top marks and honours. In 2018 she perfected
her studies at the Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda” in Pesaro.
She won numerous prizes and awards, such as the Prize for Best Graduate
in Italy at the 16th edition of the “Migliori Diplomati d’Italia” in
Castrocaro Terme (2012); First Prize and the Audience Prize at the 11th
edition of the “Magda Olivero” International Singing Competition in Milan
(2017); the 69th edition of the AsLiCo Competition (2018); and the “Best
Italian Voice Award” at the CLIP Competition in Portofino (2022).
Since 2015 shemade numerous debuts: Adina (L’Elisir d’amore) and
Musetta (La Bohème) in two youth productions at the Teatro
Petruzzelli in Bari; Musetta at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari; Nannetta (Falstaff)
in the theatres of Como, Pavia, Brescia, Bergamo, Cremona and in the Rete
Lirica delle Marche; Corinna (Il viaggio a Reims) at the Teatro
Rossini in Pesaro and in the Circuito Lirico Lombardo; Elisetta (Il
Matrimonio segreto) for the opening of the 45th Festival della Valle
d’Itria in Martina Franca; Liù (Turandot) in the Circuito Lirico
Marchigiano; Valencienne (La vedova allegra) at the Arena of the
Teatro Lirico di Cagliari; Armida (Rinaldo) at Teatro La Fenice in
Venice; Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) at the Teatro Comunale di Carpi;
Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the
Teatro delle Muse in Ancona and the Teatro Verdi in Padua; Lisette (Rondine)
at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa and the Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi; Clorinda (La
Cenerentola) and Adalgisa (Norma) at the Maggio Musicale
Fiorentino; and Norina (Don Pasquale) at the Opéra Royal de
Wallonie in Liège.
She is a regular guest at the Rossini Opera Festival, where she
also carried out an extensive concert activity. Highlights include the
“Soirées musicales” concert for the 40th edition of the ROF, in a world
premiere version for voices and orchestra by Fabio Maestri, and the “Tra
Rondò e Tournedos” concert celebrating Pierluigi Pizzi’s 40 years at the
ROF.
She also performs regularly in the sacred repertoire: among others,
Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle at the Opéra-Comédie in
Montpellier, Rossini’s Messa di Gloria at the Teatro Rossini in
Pesaro, Mozart’s Requiem, Pergolesi’s Stabat mater,
Vivaldi’s Gloria RV589 and Bellini’s Messa in La minore.
She collaborated with conductors such as Federico Maria Sardelli, Valerio
Galli, Gianluca Capuano, Michelangelo Mazza and Michele Spotti, and with
stage directors such as Pier Luigi Pizzi, Damiano Michieletto, Paul-Emile
Fourny, Andrea De Rosa and Ugo Maria Tessitore.
Among her engagements in the 2025-26 season are: I
Puritani (Elvira) in Como, Pavia and Cremona.
She currently teaches Opera Singing at the “Luca Marenzio” Conservatory
in Brescia-Darfo.
