Valeria Girardello - Mezzo-Soprano - W Print

Valeria graduated with honor from the Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia and has specialized at Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

Valeria won first prize and the "Lucia Valentini Terrani" Prize at the IX Concorso Internazionale "Trofeo La Fenice" and was a finalist in the 2017 Cesti and AsLiCo competitions.

She attended the Rossini Opera Festival academy in 2017 debuting the roles of Marchesa Melibea and Maddalena in Il viaggio a Reims at Teatro Rossini in Pesaro. Since then she has performed several times with the festival: in 2018 Petite Messe Solennelle at Teatro Rossini, in 2019 as part of the world premiere of the orchestral version of Soirees Musicales and the Gala ROF XL with Juan Diego Florez, Anna Goryachova, Angela Meade, Nicola Alaimo and Lawrence Brownlee under the baton of Carlo Rizzi; Petite Messe Solennelle in Paris for the 150th anniversary of Rossini and Stabat Mater in Milan, under the baton of Klaus Peter Flor; and she has also participated part in Moise et Pharaon production. In 2020 she was again Maddalena in Il viaggio a Reims for the oper-air version of the Festival.

For Teatro La Fenice, Valeria has performed in the New Year's Concert 2020 under the baton of Myung-Whun Chung, Vivaldi's Dorilla in Tempe conducted by Diego Fasolis, Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, Stravinsky's Pulcinella, Gina by Cilea under the baton of Francesco Lanzillotta, Haydn's Missa in tempore belli, Le cinesi by Gluck, Perocco's Aquagranda (season opening and world premiere) directed by Damiano Michieletto and Porpora's Salve Regina and Handel's Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno.

Particularly interesting also her collaboration with the Teatro alla Scala, where she performed Gianni Schicchi conducted by Adam Fischer and directed by Woody Allen, Rigoletto under the baton of Daniel Oren and the direction of Gilbert Deflo, Die Aegyptische Helena by Strauss and Angelina in La Cenerentola (special project for children).

Valeria also has a keen interest in performing baroque music such as Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, La divisione del mondo by Legrenzi in Kiel, Handel's Theodora at the Britten-Pears Festival in Aldeburgh under the baton of Christian Curnyn, Monteverdi's Il ballo delle Ingrate at Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam with Pierre Audi and Christophe Rousset, Arminio by Bononcini at the Pur ti miro festival under the baton of Rinaldo Alessandrini, Vivaldi's Orlando pastiche at Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, Mozart's Apollo et Hyacintus at Teatro Litta in Milan and Catone in Utica by Vivaldi in Ferrara under the baton of Sardelli.

She has also taken part in other productions in Teatro Comunale Mario del Monaco in Treviso such as L'Italiana in Algeri as Zulma, Nina in Il giovedì grasso by Donizetti, il musico in Donizetti's Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali, Il gioco del vento e della luna by Luca Mosca,  Missa Longa and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony under the baton of Alexander Lonquich in Rovereto and Vicenza.

In recent months she appeared as Maddalena in Rigoletto in Genoa; Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana in Turin; the debuts at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and at the Arena in Verona as Flora in La Traviata and her return as Maddalena in Rigoletto; a Gala for the Opera Festival in Brescia and in Mestre; Alfredo il Grande at the Festival Donizetti in Bergamo; Rigoletto in Palermo and Zita in Gianni Schicchi in Rovigo.

Plans include: La Cenerentola (Tisbe) at the Filarmonico in Verona; Rinaldo (Armida) in Karlsruhe and Les Dialogues des Carmélites (Mère Jeanne) at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
