Stefano La Colla

Born in Turin to a Sicilian family, Stefano La Colla began his studies at the “Pietro Mascagni” Conservatory in Livorno and later refined his training under the guidance of Luciana Serra and Carlo Meliciani. He also took part in masterclasses with Magda Olivero and Raina Kabaivanska.

Following a highly successful debut in 2008 as Radamès in Livorno, he has gone on to perform at many of the world’s most prestigious opera houses, including Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Staatsoper Berlin, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the Vienna State Opera, La Monnaie in Brussels, the Dutch National Opera and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Opernhaus Zürich, Lyric Opera of Chicago, the Sydney Opera House, the Melbourne Opera House, and the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo. Further international appearances include the Semperoper Dresden, Hamburg State Opera, Oper Frankfurt, Cologne Opera, the Wiesbaden Festival, the Norwegian National Opera in Oslo, and the Festival d’Orange.

In Italy, his engagements have included Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Filarmonico and the Arena di Verona, the Sferisterio in Macerata, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, and Teatro Massimo in Palermo.

In these renowned theatres, he has performed many of the great roles of the operatic repertoire, ranging from major Verdi roles such as Manrico (Il trovatore), Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera), Don Alvaro (La forza del destino), Radamès (Aida), Foresto (Attila), Alfredo Germont (La traviata), Carlo (I masnadieri), and Rodolfo (Luisa Miller), to Puccini’s heroes including Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Cavaradossi (Tosca), Calaf (Turandot), and Luigi (Il tabarro). His repertoire also includes Pollione (Norma), Enzo Grimaldo (La Gioconda), Le Cid, Andrea Chénier, Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana), Canio (Pagliacci), and Il piccolo Marat.
