Sergio Vitale - Baritone - W Print

The young baritone Sergio Vitale studied at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Opera Studio in Rome under the guidance of Renata Scotto and with Renato Bruson at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. He made his debut as Giorgio Germont in La Traviata and Schaunard in La Bohème at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he sung as soloist for the 2010/2011 season. He went on to sing as Don Giovanni (title role), Daniel Oren conducting, at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno, Gianni Schicchi (title role) at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Malatesta in Don Pasquale in Savona. He performed in Falstaff (title role) at the Teatro della Fortuna in Fano; Il Viaggio a Reims (Don Profondo) at the Rossini Opera Festival; Rigoletto (Marullo) on tour in Japan with the Teatro alla Scala; Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Figaro) at the Teatro di San Carlo in Napoli under Bruno Campanella; Madama Butterfly as Sharpless at the Teatro Belli in Spoleto and in Il Turco in Italia (Don Geronio) at the Teatro Massimo Vincenzo Bellini in Catania. Concert performances include Carmina Burana with the Orchestra Giovanile italiana in Milan, Faurè's Requiem at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, a concert at the Opèra de Nice, Rigoletto as Marullo at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Past engagements include Falstaff in a concert version with the first Italian Opera Accademy of Riccardo Muti, at the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona with Cristina Mazzavillani Muti staging and at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. He appeared as Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) at the Tiroler Festspiele in Erl with Gustav Kuhn and as Marcello (La Bohème) for the As.Li.Co circuit in Italy.

More recently: he sang as Haly (L’italiana in Algeri) at the Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino under the baton of Bruno Campanella, De Siriex (Fedora) at the Teatro al San Carlo in Napoli; Giorgio Germont in La Traviata at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari; Faurè's Requiem at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari; Battistelli’s Il Medico dei Pazzi in Venice;  title role in Falstaff in Cagliari; revival of L’Italiana in Algeri and at the Royal Opera House Muscat; La Bohème (Marcello) at Teatro Regio in Parma; Giordano's Giove a Pompei (title role) in Foggia and Chieti; Malatesta in Don Pasquale in Salerno; Conte Gil in Il Segreto di Susanna with the San Carlo in Naples at the Reggia in Caserta; La Fanciulla del West at the Lirico in Cagliari; La Traviata in Florence, Trapani and in Porto on tour with the Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos; a new production of La Bohème in Bologna, Graham Vick directing and Michele Mariotti conducting; Falstaff at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf;  Un Ballo in maschera in Darmstadt;  Roberto Devereux at the Teatro Regio in Parma; new production of Turandot (Ping) at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna.

Plans include: La Traviata in Tunisia; Gianni Schicchi (title role)  in Brescia, Como, Pavia, Cremona; L'Elisir d'amore (Belcore) in Toulouse.
