Samuele Simoncini began his vocal studies at the age of 19 with bass Paolo Washington. He studied at the Istituto Musicale Pareggiato in Siena and graduated from the Advanced Academy of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under the guidance of Bernadette Manca di Nissa. He refined his technique at several academies with renowned masters such as Raina Kabaivanska, Rolando Panerai, Luca Canonici, and Dolora Zajick.

In 2001 he made his debut as a light tenor in the role of Dorvil in Rossini’s La scala di seta; followed by Belfiore in Piccinni’s Le finte gemelle, Almaviva in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia, Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola, the Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto, and Paolino in Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto. At the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, he performed Don Pelagio in Haydn’s La canterina and Belfiore in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera. He debuted at the Teatro Regio di Parma in Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex and was conducted by Riccardo Muti in Cherubini’s Requiem in D minor in Florence.

After a period of study and vocal development, in 2016 he moved into more dramatic repertoire with Mario Cavaradossi in Tosca. In 2018 he debuted as Osaka in Iris at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, and Turiddu in Cavalleria rusticana in a production by Emma Dante and conducted by Francesco Cilluffo across Lombardy’s regional theatres. He sang Manrico in Il trovatore at the Teatro Regio di Torino under Pinchas Steinberg. In 2019 he performed the title role in Andrea Chénier at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, the Maribor Opera, and the Teatro Pavarotti in Modena; he also sang Radamès in Aida at the Arena di Verona under Francesco Ivan Ciampa. In 2020 he debuted as Calaf in Turandot at the Teatro Regio di Parma. He then performed at the Konzerthaus Berlin under Felix Krieger, recording Mascagni’s Iris for OEHMS Classics. In February 2021 he debuted as Luigi in Puccini’s Il tabarro at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, conducted by Daniel Oren. In Livorno he starred at the Teatro Goldoni in Mascagni’s Il piccolo Marat in the centenary production; in Tel Aviv he performed Canio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci conducted by Daniele Callegari; in Piacenza he sang Maurizio di Sassonia in Adriana Lecouvreur under Aldo Sisillo. In summer 2022 he debuted at the Opéra de Nice as Macduff conducted by Daniele Callegari, and returned to the Arena di Verona in Nabucco, Aida (as Ismaele and Radamès, under Daniel Oren), and Turandot (as Calaf, under Francesco Ivan Ciampa). In autumn 2022 he debuted as Enzo Grimaldo in Ponchielli’s La Gioconda at the Teatro Filarmonico di Verona. He then performed at the Teatro Bellini in Catania in Verdi’s Requiem; in March 2023 and the following months, he sang Radamès in Aida at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen, conducted by Paolo Carignani. In October and November 2023, he returned to the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona to debut as Hamlet in Franco Faccio’s opera and again as Luigi in Il tabarro, conducted by Gianna Fratta.

Among his recent engagements, he has sung Cavaradossi in Tosca in Nantes, Angers, Rennes, and Siena; Luigi in Il tabarro at the Teatro Regio di Torino; and the lead in Mascagni’s Il piccolo Marat in Nantes and Angers. At the Zenith Arena in Toulon he performed Don Álvaro in La forza del destino; he was Andrea Chénier in Como, Pavia, Lucca, and Rovigo. He recently covered the role of Enzo Grimaldo in La Gioconda at the San Carlo in Naples, sang Don Álvaro in La forza del destino at La Scala, Andrea Chénier at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, and Radamès in Aida in Cluj‑Napoca.

Among his engagements in the 2025-26 season: Il trovatore (Manrico) at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa.
