Paolo Arrivabeni was music director of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie from 2008 to 2017.

In Liège, he conducted productions of: Nabucco, Macbeth, La Traviata, Lucrezia Borgia, Falstaff, Rigoletto, Boris Godunov, La Bohème, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Otello, Salome, Il Trovatore, La Forza del Destino, I Due Foscari, Der Fliegende Hollander, Les pecheures de perles, Tosca, Fidelio just to name a few.

In past seasons, his engagements include: Le Comte Ory in Geneva; Luisa Miller in Berlin (Deutsche Oper); La Favorite at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées; La Traviata, Don Carlo, Tosca, Simon Boccanegra, La Bohème and Macbeth in Dresden; Lucrezia Borgia in Munich; La Bohème and Il Trovatore at the Sferisterio Opera Festival in Macerata; Macbeth in Copenhagen; Roberto Devereux in Florence; La Straniera and Maria Stuarda at the Theater an der Wien; Don Giovanni in Monte Carlo and Macbeth, Maria Stuarda and Nabucco at the Staatsoper in Berlin. He then returned to the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich to conduct Il Turco in Italia and had great success conducting Un Ballo in Maschera in Palermo, La Bohème with the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome (Terme di Caracalla) and Puccini's Messa di Gloria in Paris with the Orchestra National de France.

For his debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, he conducted Rossini's Stabat Mater.

At the Marseille Opera, Maestro Arrivabeni conducted numerous productions, including: La Straniera, I due Foscari, Moïse et Pharaon, Simon Boccanegra, Boris Godunov, La Favorite, Lohengrin, Entführung aus dem Serail, Macbeth, Nabucco and a series of concerts.

More recently he has conducted La Bohème, La Forza del Destino and Boris Godunov in Geneva; I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Nabucco, Otello, Cavalleria Rusticana&Pagliacci, Tosca and L'Arlesiana at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin; La Bohème at the New National Theatre in Tokyo; Maria Stuarda in Rome and Berlin; Aida at the Chorégies d'Orange; La Rondine and La Forza del Destino in Toulouse; L'Italiana in Algeri in Madrid and San Sebastian; Verdi's Requiem, Nabucco, Tosca, La Bohème and Luisa Miller in Hamburg; Aids-Gala concert in Dusseldorf; Cavalleria Rusticana&Pagliacci in Genoa; Macbeth in Cagliari; I due Foscari at the Festival Verdi in Parma; Tosca at the Rome Opera; Un Ballo in Maschera in Munich and La Bohème in Dresden.

Maestro Arrivabeni also returned to the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro conducting Demetrio and Polibio.

His future engagements include: Nabucco in Dresden; Madama Butterfly in Duesseldorf; La Traviata at the Terme di Caracalla in Rome; Cavalleria Rusticana in Berlin (DOB); La Forza del Destino (concert version) in Oslo; Rigoletto and Norma in Hamburg; Attila (concert version) and Un Ballo in Maschera in Marseille and Simon Boccanegra in Zurich.
