Olga Busuioc - Soprano - W Print

Olga Busuioc, born in Moldavia in 1986, attended the Stefan Neaga Music Accademy and then the G. Musicescu Music Accademy. She then moved to Italy, where she is now continuing her studies under the guidance of Mirella Freni. Ms. Busuioc is a recipient of several prizes at international lyric competitions, such as the St. Petersburg in Russia and the Hariclea Darclee in Romania. More recently she was awarded at the International Competition Ottavio Ziino, Second Prize (2011), Special Prize at the International Competition “Galina Vishnevskaya” in Moskow (2012), the international competition “St. Moniuszko” in Warsaw (First Prize, 2013), Special Prize at the international competition Francisco Vinas; she also won the prestigious Operalia in Moscow with Placido Domingo. Ms Busuioc performed in concert at the Music Festival Lastarii Muzicii in Chisinau; at the Music Festival in Ukraine under the baton of Andriy Yurkevych; and at the Uniunea Muzicienilor in Moldavia. In Italy, she participated in the concerts in honor of Luciano Pavarotti in Modena (both in 2010 and 2011); she then sang with the Chamber Music Concert with an all Rossini program then she performed in a Lyric Gala at the Teatro Bonci in Cesena, and in numerous other concerts in Bologna, Sassuolo, Faenza, Carpi, Modena and Bari. Ms Busuioc starred in Iolanta in Moldova, La Bohème (Mimì) at the National Theatre Opera & Balett in Chisinau and at the Martisor Festival in Romania and at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest. Her repertoire includes Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta and Eugene Onegin (Tatiana); Puccini’s Turandot (Liù) and La Bohème (Mimi) and Bizet’s Carmen (Micaela), in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro (Contessa). More recently she performed Mimì in La Bohème in Genoa and Manon Lescaut (title role) in Valencia. Ms Busuioc has recently made her debut at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna singing Madama Butterfly (title role), and then sang Mimì in La Bohème in Los Angeles and at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, as well as Lilia in David’s Herculanum at the Wexford Festival Opera; Tatiana in Eugene Onegin in Warsaw;  Liù in Turandot in Cagliari and Shangai; Micaela in Carmen at the Teatro Real in Madrid; Poulenc's Gloria in Madrid.

Future plans include: her debut at the Glyndebourne Festival singing Cio-Cio-San in a new production of Madama Butterfly. At the Staatstheater Stuttgart she will sing La Bohème (Mimì), Les Contes d'Hoffmann (Antonia/Giulietta) and Boito's Mefistofele (Margherita/Elena).
