Born in Pesaro in 1998, he studied opera singing and classical guitar
from an early age and graduated with top marks and honours under Maestro
Gianni Fabbrini at the Conservatorio 'Luigi Cherubini' in Florence. He
also studied at the Universitat fur Musik in Vienna with Maestro Anton
Scharinger.
Matteo has established himself in major international competitions,
winning prizes such as the Orchestra Sinfonica Rossini prize at the
Giovani in crescendo Competition in Pesaro (2016 and 2017); first prize at
the Citta' di Pienza Competition (2022); second prize at the Anita
Cerquetti Competition in Montecosaro (2022); third prize at the Thomas
Kuti Competition in Zagreb (2022); second prize at the Ottavio Ziino
Competition in Rome (2023); Voci emergenti prize at the AsLiCo Competition
in Como (2024); second prize at the CLIP Competition in Portofino (2024).
In 2022, he furthered his studies at the Accademia del Belcanto 'Rodolfo
Celletti' in Martina Franca and debuted the role of Blasio in Antonio
Salieri's La scuola de' gelosi at the 48th Festival della Valle
d'Itria conducted by Maestro Danila Grassi.
In the summer of 2023, he took part in the Accademia Rossiniana 'Alberto
Zedda' in Pesaro, as part of the Rossini Opera Festival, debuting the role
of Don Alvaro in the opera Il viaggio a Reims conducted by Maestro
Andrea Foti and directed by Emilio Sagi.
He has been a member of the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino
since 2022. With the Florentine foundation, in addition to deepening his
study of singing and interpretation, he had the opportunity to take part
in productions during the season, collaborating with renowned conductors
and directors and also touring abroad (South Africa and the Enescu
Festival in Bucharest). Among the operas he has taken part in in Florence
are: Don Carlo (Flemish deputies), La Traviata, L'Italiana
in Algeri (Haly), Verdi's Otello, Carmina Burana, Die
Zauberflote (Papageno) and Don Pasquale (Malatesta).
He was also Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia reduced version at
the Teatro Regio in Turin, conducted by Maestro Riccardo Bisatti and
directed by Paolo Vettori.
He recently played Dandini in La Cenerentola with the Rete
Lirica delle Marche and at the Teatro Municipal in Lima, conducted by
Maestro Andrea Foti and directed by Matteo Anselmi; Mascagni's Le
Maschere (Capitan Spavento) at the Wexford Opera Festival; and
Donizetti's Don Pasquale (Dottor Malatesta) at the Smetana Hall in
Prague under the baton of Marco Armiliato.
Plans include Andrea Chenier in Parma; Rossini's Il Barbiere
di Siviglia (Figaro) in Palermo and La Cenerentola (Dandini)
in Cologne.
