Massimiliano Pisapia - Tenor - W Print

Born in Turin, Massimiliano Pisapia started his vocal studies in 1992 and later specialized under the guidance of Franco Corelli. Winner of "Giulietta Simionato" and "Tito Gobbi" competitions, he made his operatic debut as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly at the theatres in Pavia, Brescia and Como (Italy).

Afterwards Mr. Pisapia made his debut as Riccardo in Un Ballo in Maschera at the Opernhaus Leipzig under the baton of Riccardo Chailly. Since that moment he had started a career performing in many of the world's most important concert halls and opera houses, such as: the Teatro La Scala in Milan, Opernhaus Zurich, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Hamburgische Staatsoper, Teatro Colõn in Buenos Aires, Teatro del Maggio Musicale in Florence, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Arena di Verona, Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Teatro Regio in Parma and Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago.

His repertory includes: Madama Butterfly, Rigoletto, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, Macbeth, Simon Boccanegra, La Bohème, Un Ballo in Maschera, I Lombardi alla Prima Crociata, Roberto Devereux, L'Elisir d'Amore, Gianni Schicchi, La Traviata and Lucia di Lammermoor, to name only a few. 

Highlights of his successful engagements it is worth mentioning: La Bohème in Santiago de Chile, Valencia, Hamburg, Zurich, Milan, Turin, Genoa, Verona, Florence, Torre del Lago, Cagliari and Palermo; Madama Butterfly in Tokyo, Beijing, Paris, Hamburg Staatsoper, Valencia, Milan, Rome, Venice, Verona, Genoa, Torre del Lago, Parma and Palermo; Un Ballo in Maschera in Munich, Hamburg, Leipzig, Dusseldorf, Vienna, Trieste, Genoa, Strasbourg, Mulhouse and Colmar; Simon Boccanegra in Vienna, Hamburg, Valencia and Turin; Gianni Schicchi at the Opera in Frankfurt; Attila in Amsterdam; Lucia di Lammermoor in Las Palmas; Roberto Devereux in Munich and Bergamo; L'Elisir d'Amore, Luisa Miller and Macbeth in Turin; I Lombardi alla Prima Crociata in Buenos Aires and Florence; Les Contes d'Hoffmann in Pavia, Brescia and Como; Capriccio in Cagliari.

He recently performed: Roberto Devereux at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome; Luisa Miller at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich; Madama Butterfly, Aida, La Bohème at the Teatro Regio in Turin; La Traviata at the Festival Puccini in Torre del Lago and in Lecce; Poliuto in Zurich and Marseille; La Bohème (open air charity concert) at the Salzburg Festival (Daniele Gatti conducting) and in Las Palmas; La Bohème in Salzburg, Venice, Hamburg, Dresden and Las Palmas; Rigoletto in Palermo; Madama Butterfly in Minorca; Macbeth in Verona (Teatro Filarmonico); Tosca in Atlanta; I Lombardi alla Prima Crociata, Madama Butterfly and Lucia di Lammermoor in Hamburg; Madama Butterfly and Aida at the Petruzzelli in Bari; Tosca in Bologna, Rome and Cagliari; Aida at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège and in Bergen (concert version); Rigoletto in Bogotà.

Mr. Pisapia enjoys a vast concert activity: Rossini's Stabat Mater in Milan, Zurich and Einsiedeln (Switzerland); Dvorak's Stabat Mater in Florence, Verona, Genoa and Trieste; Beethoven's Symphony n.9 and Verdi's Requiem in Cagliari and Moscow; Berlioz's symphony Roméo et Juliette in Brussels; a gala concert in Berlin and in Parma (Teatro Regio).

Recent engagements include: Un Ballo in Maschera in Seoul; Verdi's Requiem in Lisboa; Madama Butterfly in Zagabria and Seoul; Il Trovatore in Cagliari and Norma in Tenerife; La Traviata in Costa Rica ; Lucia di Lammermoor in Bucarest; Rigoletto in Genoa; La Bohéme in Naples;  Madama Butterfly in Vienna (Staatsoper).

Future plans: Madama Butterfly in Kyoto.
