Veronica Cangemi - Nedda
Born in Mendoza (Argentina), Veronica Cangemi is one of the most versatile sopranos on the music scene today. Much in demand in both the baroque and classical repertoire, she performed in operas by Monteverdi, Cavalli, Scarlatti, Handel, Vivaldi, Gluck and Haydn. She regularly collaborated with conductors as Claudio Abbado, Giovanni Antonini, Ivor Bolton, René Jacobs, Marc Minkowski, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Andreas Spering, Adam Fischer, Marek Janowski.
Among her recent engagements: Handel’s Orlando (Dorinda) with Jean-Christophe Spinosi in Toulouse, Versailles and Rennes; Carmen (Micaëla) at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London under Daniel Oren; Idomeneo (Ilia) at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires; concert and recording for Outhere of Stradella's Santa Editta with Mare Nostrum; Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor with Giardino Armonico and Giovanni Antonini at the International Festival Wratislawia Cantans; baroque concert at the Musikfest in Bremen with Il Pomo d’Oro.
Plans include: Serse (Atalanta) with Ensemble Matheus and Jean-Christophe Spinosi in Budapest and Barcelona; Le Nozze di Figaro in Wroclaw; Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira) in Liège and Charleroi; Vivaldi’s L’Incoronazione di Dario (Arpago) at the Teatro Regio in Turin; Rossini’s Stabat Mater with the Warsaw Philharmonic under Stefano Montanari in Warsaw. Mrs. Cangemi will return to Dresden, singing Morgana in Alcina.
Mario Cassi – Silvio* (January 16th, 19th)
Already well-established as one of the most appreciated baritones of his generation, Mr. Cassi regularly collaborates with conductors such as Roberto Abbado, Bruno Campanella, Riccardo Muti in the most prestigious theaters in Italy and abroad. After his success at the Opéra de Paris singing L’Elisir d’Amore, Mario Cassi has recently made his debut as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte in Liège under the baton of M° Paolo Arrivabeni.
Plans include: Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Figaro) at the Opéra in Monte Carlo; Don Pasquale (Malatesta) at the Wiener Staatsoper; Don Giovanni (title role), La Traviata (Germont) at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège; Lucia di Lammermoor (Lord Enrico Ashton) in Tel Aviv, at the Teatro Regio in Parma then on tour in Italy. Mr. Cassi will return to Dresden singing Guglielmo in Così fan tutte.
