Luca Cervoni

Graduated from the "S. Cecilia" Conservatory in Rome, Luca also pursued advanced studies with Alessandro Quarta and Rinaldo Alessandrini in Urbino. In 2007, he was among the winners of the "Monteverdi Competition" for the Centenary of L'Orfeo in Mantua, which led him to perform the opera in Prague. He has collaborated with Collegium Vocale Gent, Sigiswald Kuijken, and the Ghislieri Choir and Consort led by Giulio Prandi. He co-founded the ensemble AbChordis, with which he has performed at many prestigious festivals.

A member of Alessandro Quarta's ensemble Concerto Romano, he has performed the role of Jonas in Carissimi’s oratorio of the same name; Joseph of Arimathea in Pasquini’s La sete di Christo; Holofernes in Giuditta and Winter in La Gloria di Primavera by Scarlatti; and the Counsellor in Stradella’s San Giovanni Battista.

He has worked with Alessandrini and Concerto Italiano as Anfinomo in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria at the Teatro Regio in Turin and on tour in Spain with the Vespro di San Marco and Vespro della Beata Vergine.

With Antonio Florio and Cappella Neapolitana, he performed and recorded for Glossa Veneziano’s La Passione secondo Giovanni, and took part in the production of Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo at the Teatro Regio in Turin in the roles of Shepherd and Spirit.

He performed the role of Giovanni in Handel’s La Resurrezione, recorded by Swiss Radio RSI with Diego Fasolis and I Barocchisti.

Among other recent engagements, he has sung the roles of King Ahasuerus in Handel’s Esther and Damon in Acis and Galatea at the Teatro Comunale di Ferrara; Neptune in Legrenzi’s La divisione del mondo and Lucan in Monteverdi’s L'incoronazione di Poppea at Theater Kiel under the direction of Quarta; Anfinomo in Monteverdi’s Il ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria and Corimbo in Melani’s L'Empio Punito at the Reate Festival; Arasse in Vinci’s Siroe, Re di Persia at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples; and Emilio in Mozart’s Il Sogno di Scipione in Venice with Sardelli.

He has taken part in numerous operas by Stradella with Andrea De Carlo and Mare Nostrum Ensemble: Teofilo in San Giovanni Crisostomo; Celindo in La Doriclea; Rosalbo in Amare e fingere; and Simona in Il Trespolo tutore.

He performed as the Counsellor in Stradella’s San Giovanni Battista at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam conducted by Vaclav Luks with Collegium 1704.

He recently appeared in: Zaide at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma; L’Orfeo in Zurich and in Cremona, Ravenna, and Ferrara with Dantone; Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda in Cremona and Reggio Emilia with Corti; Enea in Caonia in Herne with Montanari; Arnalta Café, a stand-up comedy of nursemaids drawn from various 17th-century operas with Concerto Romano; Il Giardino di Rose by Alessandro Scarlatti in Malta; Monteverdi’s Madrigals with Rinaldo Alessandrini in Rome; L'incoronazione di Poppea on tour in Italy; Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine at the Monteverdi Festival in Cremona and in Fez; Il ritorno di Ulisse in patria at the Ravenna Festival; and Il trionfo dell’onore at the Teatro Malibran in Venice.

Luca has recorded for Christophorus, Arcana, Glossa, and Sony DHM.
