Kenneth Tarver - tenor
Mr. Tarver is considered to be one of the outstanding Bel canto tenore-di-grazia
of his generation, acknowledged for his beauty of tone, virtuosic technique,
extensive and even vocal range, coupled with an attractive and elegant stage
presence. Kenneth Tarver has appeared in prestigious opera houses, including the
Royal Opera House-Covent Garden, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin,
Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Bayerische Staatsoper, Dresden Semperopern, Gran
Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Opéra Comique in Paris, Theatre de La Monnaie in
Brussels, Metropolitan Opera in New York, Teatro San Carlo in Naples and the
Festival in Aix-en-Provence, cultivating an impressive repertoire of both
well-known and seldom-performed masterpieces from baroque through the classical,
Bel canto and contemporary repertoire. Mr. Tarver collaborated with conductors
such as: Claudio Abbado, Frans Brüggen, Ricardo Chailly, James Levine, Bobby
McFerrin, Carlo Rizzi, Alberto Zedda. Mr. Tarver recently performed Il
Barbiere di Siviglia in Berlin, Genoa and Padua; Bach’s Magnificat with
Il Giardino Armonico and Giovanni Antonini in Wroclaw; Hasse’s Leucippo in
Cologne; Le roi David by Honegger in Stuttgart where he also sang Arbace
in Idomeneo at the Musikfest; Don Giovanni in Bergen; Berlioz’ Roméo
et Juliette in Seattle; Bianca e Falliero at the Rossini Festival in
Bad Wildbad.
Mr. Tarver just gained great success singing Così Fan Tutte and Don
Giovanni (recorded by Sony) in Dortmund and St. Petersburg with the Perm
Opera and Teodor Currentzis.
Amongst his future plans it is worth mentioning: Johannes-Passion in
Stuttgart; Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Opera Australia in Sydney,
Andrea Molino conducting; Mass in B minor with the Bayerischer Rundfunk
in Munich and Baden-Baden; Lucio Silla in Madrid; Berlioz’ Roméo et
Juliette at the Edinburgh International Festival. As a favored recording
artist, Mr. Tarver has an impressive recording catalogue and he holds two
Grammy’s.
