Kenneth Tarver - Ferrando/Don Ottavio
Mr. Tarver is considered to be one of the outstanding belcanto tenore-di-grazia
of his generation, acknowledged for his beauty of tone, virtuosic technique, extensive
and even vocal range, coupled with an attractive and elegant stage presence. He
has appeared in prestigious opera houses, including the Royal Opera House-Covent
Garden, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Bayerische
Staatsoper, Dresden Semperopern, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Opéra Comique
in Paris, Theatre de La Monnaie in Brussels, Metropolitan Opera in New York, Teatro
San Carlo in Naples and the Festival in Aix-en-Provence, cultivating an impressive
repertoire of both well-known and seldom-performed masterpieces from baroque through
the classical, bel canto and contemporary repertoire. Mr. Tarver regularly collaborates
with conductors such as: Claudio Abbado, James Levine, Alberto Zedda, Ricardo Chailly,
Carlo Rizzi, Bobby McFerrin, Frans Brüggen. Mr Tarver recently performed Il
Barbiere di Siviglia in Berlin, Genoa and Padua; Bach’s Magnificat with
Il Giardino Armonico and Giovanni Antonini in Wroclaw; Hasse’s Leucippo in
Cologne; Le roi David by Honegger in Stuttgart; Don Giovanni in
Bergen; Berlioz’ Roméo et Juliette in Seattle; Bianca e Falliero at
the Rossini Festival in Bad Wildbad; Arbace in Idomeneo at the Musikfest
in Stuttgart.
Amongst his future plans it is worth mentioning: Messiah in
Dresden with the Dresdner Philharmonie; Johannes-Passion in Stuttgart; Il
Barbiere di Siviglia at the Opera Australia in Sydney; Mass in B minor with
the Bayerischer Rundfunk in Munich and Baden-Baden; Lucio Silla in
Madrid; Berlioz’ Roméo et Juliette at the Edinburgh Festival. As a favored
recording artist, Mr. Tarver has an impressive recording catalogue and he holds
two Grammy’s.
