Baritone Hae Kang was born in 1994 in Seoul (South Korea). He began
studying opera singing at the age of 19 and graduated from Yonsei
University. In 2019, he moved to Italy to complete his studies,
specializing at the Como Conservatory. He is currently studying at the
Raina Kabaivanska Academy.
In 2023, he won first prize at the 59th edition of the International
Competition “Voci Verdiane” in Busseto. He also won first prize at the
“Gaetano Zinetti” Competition and second prize at the “Piero Cappuccilli”
Competition.
He made his debut in the role of Marcello in La Bohème at the
Sofia Opera (Bulgaria), where he recently returned to sing Amonasro in Aida.
He later played the role of Rodrigo in Don Carlo at the Teatro
Galli in Rimini; again Marcello in La Bohème at the Teatro Lirico
in Cagliari; Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Belcore in L'
Elisir d' amore and Carmina Burana at the Teatro del Maggio
Musicale Fiorentino (Cavea); Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera at
the Festival Verdi in Parma and in Fermo, Ascoli Piceno and Fano; and
Silvio in Pagliacci in Modena, Piacenza and Rimini.
Among the engagements of the 2025-26 season are: L'Elisir
d'amore at the Teatro Comunale in Bolzano; Il Barbiere di
Siviglia at the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona; Ponchielli’s Messa
per la notte di Natale at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in
Lisbon; Pagliacci and Un ballo in maschera at the Maggio
Musicale Fiorentino; and Turandot at the Teatro San Carlo in
Naples.
