Giuseppe Toia - Baritone - W Print

Born in Palermo, he studied singing with Simone Alaimo and Vittoria Mazzoni and took part in the Accademia Rossiniana "Alberto Zedda" 2023 in Pesaro under the guidance of Maestro Ernesto Palacio. He is a winner and finalist in several international opera competitions. He made his debut at a very young age in the role of Fiorello in Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro L. Pirandello in Agrigento.

In 2014 he debuted the role of Malatesta in Donizetti's Don Pasquale at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania. Debuts in his early years also include Conte di Almaviva in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari; Marcello in La bohème in Palermo; Puccini's La rondine at the Teatro Bellini in Catania under M°Gelmetti; Escamillo in Carmen on tour for the As.Li.Co. circuit; and Conte di Ceprano in Verdi's Rigoletto at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo conducted by M° Ranzani. He debuted the role of Alessio in Bellini's La sonnambula at the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona, under the baton of Maestro A. D'Agostini and with great acclaim of the critics, and he sang Figaro in the new production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Ente Luglio musicale Trapanese.

In March 2023, he participated as the protagonist in the shooting of Attanasio, cantante vanesio at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. Between July and August of the same year he attended the Accademia Rossini “Alberto Zedda” in Pesaro debuting the role of Don Profondo in Rossini's Il Viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival, under the baton of Maestro Andrea Foti and with the Rossini Symphony Orchestra.

In 2024, he made his debut as Don Magnifico in Rossini's La Cenerentola for the Circuito Lirico Marchigiano and at the Teatro Municipal in Lima; as Schaunard in Puccini's La bohème at the Grada Festival in Lima under the baton of M° Bonato; as Eutichio in Lauro Rossi's opera I falsi monetari at the “Il bel canto ritrovato” Festival at the Teatro della Fortuna in Fano; and as Procolo in the production of Le Convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali at the Wexford Opera Festival.

Dedicated on the concert side as well, he has recently took part in concerts in Pesaro, New York and Berlin; in two Rossini galas in Brazil with the Rossini Opera Festival; in a Rossini gala at the Auditorium del Massimo in Rome, again with the Orchestra Sinfonica Rossini of Pesaro; and at the “Piccolo opera festival” in Gorizia in a Rossini gala and in Rossini's Petite messe solennelle.

Upcoming engagements include Rossini Cards (Dandini) and Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Don Bartolo) at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo.
