Born in Palermo, Giulia Mazzola joined the treble voices choir of the
Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini in her city at a very young age under the
guidance of Maestro Antonio Sottile. She studied vocal technique and
repertoire with Francesca Martorana, with whom she is currently continuing
her studies.
In 2016, she participated in the Belli 'European Community' competition
in Spoleto, specializing with Edda Moser, Lella Cuberli, Claudio Desderi,
Amelia Felle, Enza Ferrari. From this moment on, she also began to make a
name for herself in important international opera competitions, always
finishing among the top places: 20th edition of the "city of Alcamo"
international competition for opera singers where she won the critics'
prize and third place, 21st edition of the "Valerio Gentile" international
opera singing prize where she won first place overall, as well as at the
Toti dal Monte edition in 2021 where she won the role of Norina in Don
Pasquale.
Noteworthy engagements include: Oscar in Un Ballo in Maschera at
the Teatro Nuovo Giancarlo Menotti in Spoleto, conducted by Marco Angius
and directed by Stefano Monti; The Queen of the Night in Die
Zauberflöte for Europaincanto on tour in Italy; Micaela in Carmen
at the Teatro Nuovo Giancarlo Menotti in Spoleto and in various theatres
in Umbria; Serpina in La Serva Padrona by Giovan Battista
Pergolesi at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo; Cherubino in Le Nozze di
Figaro in Beirut with the Lebanon Philharmonic Orchestra. She
returned to the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and sang Cherie in the
intermezzo Il duello comico Giovanni Paisiello; Gilda in Rigoletto
in Cosenza and for the OperaCamion project at the Rome Opera under
the baton of Maestro Carlo Donadio and the direction of Fabio Cherstich;
Giannetta in L'Elisir d'Amore in Trapani and at the Massimo in
Palermo; Elisetta in Cimarosa's Il Matrimonio Segreto in Tenerife
and then at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo and at the Regio in Parma. She
also sang as Norina in Don Pasquale in Treviso, Padua and Rovigo;
Elisir d'Amore in Oman and Carmen at the Terme di Caracalla for
the summer season of the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome; Mozart’s Requiem with
the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto on tour; Viclinda in Verdi’s I
Lombardi alla prima crociata in Parma (Festival Verdi); Musetta in La
Bohème in Padova, Treviso, Rovigo and at the Lirico di Cagliari and
Despina in Così fan tutte in Pistoia.
Upcoming engagements include Don Pasquale (Norina) in Rovigo; Die
Fledermaus (Adele) in Cagliari and L'Elisir d'amore (Adina)
in Treviso and Palermo.
