Gianni Giuga - Baritone - W Print

Born in Siracusa in 1992, he graduated at the Drama Academy of Giusto Monaco (Istituto Nazionale del Dramma Antico- ADDA), where he specialized under the guidance of Mauro Avogadro, Maurizio Donadoni, Graziano Piazza, Gabriele Lavia and other great names of contemporary Italian theater.

From 2014 he began studying singing with Salvatore Fisichella in Catania. In 2016 he graduated in modern letters at the University of Catania after that he started studying with Marcello Giordani at the YAP Academy in Augusta performing in the inaugural concert at the Teatro Comunale di Siracusa and in January 2017 at the 'Giordani and Friends' Concert with the orchestra of the Teatro Massimo Bellini, together with Marcello Giordani and other young singers.

In February 2017, he sang at the Teatro Donnafugata in Ragusa Ibla and at the Teatro Comunale di Avola and was Dandini in Cenerentola produced by the YAP Academy. In April, he took part in the 'Appennino InCanto' Masterclass in Modena, focusing on Rossini's repertoire, and sang Dandini again at the Teatro Comunale Luciano Pavarotti in Modena.

In 2018 he won the prestigious AsLiCo International Singing Competition in Como and the “Young Talent Prize” at the International Singing Contest Adriana Maliponte. He made made his debut in Pagliacci in Augusta as Silvio, besides Marcello Giordani in the role of Canio.

He made his debut at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari in La Fanciulla del West where he returned for Madama Butterfly and Carmen (Morales). He starred as Belcore in L'Elisir d'amore at the Teatro Comunale di Modena and at the Teatro Comunale di Carpi in a special project for children and families.

He recently starred in the Italian premiere of Lo Schiavo by Gomes, for the opening of the season at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, conducted by John Neschling and directed by Davide Garattini, and Taddeo in L'Italiana in Algeri at the Opéra de Tenerife and at the Comunale di Bologna. He also took part in the production of Andrea Chénier in Trieste, in the special project for schools La spada nella roccia at the Teatro Regio in Parma, in productions of Tosca and Turandot in Sicily and in La Traviata in Ancona.

He sung as Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Cosenza, Messina and for the theatres of the AsLiCo circuit, he took part in the production of Rigoletto at the Regio di Parma and was in the production of Tosca (Sagrestano) at the Torre del Lago Festival. He was also Morales in Carmen in Parma, Reggio Emilia and Bolzano, Belcore in L'Elisir d'amore in Bogotà, Silvano in Un ballo in maschera in Tenerife and Barbemouche in a concert version of Leoncavallo's La Boheme at the Bellini in Catania; he performed in Sonnambula in Massy, Limoges and Compiegne and La Boheme in Bolzano and Trento.
