Winner of the Junior Prize in the "Ferruccio Tagliavini" Competition, Gianluca Buratto was then invited to sing the Verdi’s Requiem at Festspielehaus in Bregenz. In 2009 he made his debut at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, singing in the world premiere of Il Carro e i Canti by Alessandro Solbiati. Mr. Buratto then performed: Stravinsky’s Pulcinella with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Lecce; Le Disgrazie d’Amore by Cesti conducted by Carlo Ipata in Pisa; Bach cantatas and Fux’s Cristo nell’ Orto with the Bach Consort Wien under Ruben Dubrovsky in Vienna; Maria Stuarda in Trieste, Virginia by Mercadante and La Bohème and the Wexford Opera Festival. He took part in the productions of La Betulia Liberata by Jommelli and by Mozart at the Salzburg Festival and at the Ravenna Festival under Riccardo Muti. Most recently he sang: Ambrosini’s Killer di Parole (world premiere), La Bohème and Rigoletto at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice; Mozart's Mass in C minor KV 427 at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome under the baton of Kent Nagano and at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari under Hubert Soudant; Bach's Johannes-Passion with Al Ayre Espanol and Lopez-Banzo in Spain and in Leipzig; the world premiere of Solbiati's La leggenda at the Teatro Regio in Turin under Gianandrea Noseda and Handel's Ariodante with Il Complesso Barocco and Alan Curtis; Macbeth at the Salzburg Festival and at the Teatro dell’ Opera in Rome under the baton of Riccardo Muti. He just recorded Handel's Giulio Cesare with Il Complesso Barocco and Alan Curtis for Naïve.
Mr. Buratto's future engagements include: Thais and Tosca in Valencia; La Bohème and Rigoletto in Venice; Ambrosini's Killer di parole in Nancy; L’incoronazione di Poppea at the Innsbrucker Festwochen; Bach’s B minor Mass with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Riccardo Muti; Handel’s Agrippina with Il Complesso Barocco and Alan Curtis in a European tour.
