Francesca Tiburzi was born in Bergamo where she began her lyrical singing
studies at the age of fourteen. In 2005, she attended courses in early
music at the Accademia Internazionale della Musica in Milan, performing
music from the sacred repertoire of Palestrina, Cavalli, Rossi,
Monteverdi, Bach and Mozart. She then specialized in French vocal music
with Francois Ogéas, in German Lieder with Mary Lindsey, vocal technique
and interpretation with Rosanna Lippi, in- depth seminars on the
physiology of the singing voice held by Franco Fussi, and master's courses
in advanced artistic training with Katia Ricciarelli, Francesca Patané,
Mariella Devia, Aprile Millo, and Yva Barthelemy. In July 2011, she
obtained her academic diploma at the Donizetti Higher Institute of Music
Studies with top marks and honour. After her diploma, she continued to
deepen her study and singing technique following the Barthelemy method
with Professor Giuseppina Cortesi. She is currently continuing her
advanced training with Mariella Devia and Silvia Silveri.
She is the overall winner of the Salice d'Oro competition (2015), and
has gone on to win prestigious competitions including: Etta Limiti
international opera competition (2015) second prize; Rosa Ponselle
international opera competition (2011) second prize; IV international
opera competition Marcello Giordani, third prize; international opera
competition Marcella Pobbe (2014) first prize; opera competition Lina
Bertasi Aimaro (2009) first prize; she won the study prize 18th edition of
the Rotary Club Bergamo Città Alta (2012) as best student of the
Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali G.Donizetti.
She made her debut in 2013 playing Violetta Valery in La Traviata,
followed by important engagements: Tosca (title role) at Opera in
Rome, Teatro del Maggio in Florence, Semperoper in Dresden, Lirico in
Cagliari, and in Trieste, Udine, Pordenone, San Carlo in Naples and in
Jesi; Anna Bolena, La Straniera and Il Pirata at
Bellini in Catania; Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera at the Metz
Opera where she later returned for Pagliacci, Tabarro, Tosca and
Madama Butterfly; La Campana Sommersa and Palla De Mozzi
at the Lirico di Cagliari; Pia de Tolomei (Pia) at the Teatro
del Giglio di Lucca, at the Goldoni di Livorno, at the Verdi di Pisa; Manon
Lescaut (title role) at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, where she
also took part in the production of Aida (Priestess) for the 2018
Areniana season; Mala Vita (Cristina) at the Wexford Festival
Opera, Aida (title role) at the Aspendos Opera festival (Turkey)
and at the Prague State Opera; Tabarro at the Aalto Theatre in
Essen; and she took part in the production of La Gioconda at the
Teatro alla Scala in Milan and in Catania; Madama Butterfly at
the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, Metz, Essen, Canada and Cosenza; La
Forza del destino in Bologna; Puccini's Trittico at the
Taormina Festival; Tosca in Rovigo, Fano, the Grange Festival in
London and Metz.
Also active on the concert side, she performed Beethoven's Symphony
No. 9 in Sassari and at the Teatro Antico in Taormina, the Petite
Messe Solennelle at the Filarmonico in Verona, D. Shostakovich's 16th
Symphony with the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto at the Teatro
Verdi in Padua and a series of opera concerts in Taormina.
Upcoming engagements include: Tosca in Copenhagen and La
Gioconda in Budapest.
