Korean bass Dongho Kim studied at the Korea National University of Arts
and then he moved to Berlin where he attended the Hochschule für Musik
“Hanns Eisler”, after that he specialized at the Accademia del Teatro alla
Scala in Milan under the guidance of Renato Bruson, Luciana Serra, Luciana
D’intino, Vincenzo Scalera.
Dongho Kim is a multiple award winner: 1st Prize at the Magda Olivero
international singing competition and at the Gigli Franci international
singing competition; Sarzana opera festival competition 3rd Prize,
Riccardo Zandonai competition in Italy 1st Prize; Ningbo International
voice competition in China 2nd Prize.
After his debuts in Korea and Germany he made his debut at the Teatro
alla Scala in Milan in Don Carlos (Deputato fiammingo), as Osmin
in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and as Basilio in Il
Barbiere di Siviglia. Active also on the concert side he sang
Dubois’ Les Sept Paroles du Christ, Mozart’s The
Krönungsmesse, C.F. Gounod’s Missa solemmis, Fauré’s Requiem,
Petite Messe Solennelle, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria with
Christoph Eschenbach in Rome, J.S. Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium
under the baton of Fabio Luisi.
He recently gained great success in the italian première of Gomes' Lo
Schiavo, new production at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, where he
also starred in Ernani and most recently in Beethoven's 9th
Symphony, La Bohème (Colline) and Boito's Nerone (Tigellino);
Aida at the Festival Verdi (Busseto); Tosca (Angelotti)
in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Arca’s Pinocchio (Mangiafuoco), Falstaff,
La Traviata and Attila at the Petruzzelli in Bari; Nabucco
in Valencia; Lucrezia Borgia in Trieste; L'Italiana in
Algeri in Verona (Teatro Filarmonico); Turandot in Korea;
Tosca in Genoa; La Bohème (Colline) in Montpellier; Tosca
(Angelotti) in Bari and Die Zauberflote (Bartolo) in Seoul.
