The baritone Devid Cecconi, born in Florence, after completed his
studies, won the first prize of the “Mattia Battistini” International
Singing Competition.
He has a wide repertoire which includes role as: Falstaff, Renato
in Un Ballo in Maschera, Macbeth, Gerard in Andrea
Chenier, Rodrigo in Don Carlo, Nabucco, Rigoletto
and many others.
Mr. Cecconi starred as Rigoletto at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste,
Daniel Oren conducting, then on tour in Italy; Il Tabarro at the
Teatro Luciano Pavarotti in Modena, Piacenza and Ferrara; La Forza del
Destino, Rigoletto, Nabucco at the Teatro Carlo
Felice in Genoa; Pagliacci and Aida at the Terme di
Caracalla in Rome; Rigoletto and Madama Butterfly in
Salerno; Tabarro and Gianni Schicchi in Ravenna, Modena
and on tour in Tuscany; Madama Butterfly at the National Center of
Performing Arts in Mumbay; Giovanna d’Arco at the Teatro Regio in
Parma, Bruno Bartoletti conducting, then he went on tour as Rigoletto
in China again with the Teatro Regio of Parma.
In the past season he performed: Rigoletto at the Festival in
St.Margarethen, Leipzig, Trieste, Bologna, at the Puccini Festival in
Torre del Lago, Seoul, Liège; Nabucco in Masada, Palermo and
Leipzig; Roberto Devereux at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome and at
the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo on tour with the Bayerische Staatsoper Berlin; La
Bohème at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and at the Opéra in Toulon;
Gianni Schicchi in Lecce; Pagliacci at the Teatro
Filarmonico in Verona; Attila (Ezio) in Trieste; Madama
Butterfly at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and in Lecce; La
Traviata in Hannover; Un Ballo in Maschera in Seoul,
Cagliari and Kiel; Falstaff in Wiesbaden; La Bohème and Aida
in Gozo; Giovanna d’Arco (Giacomo) for the season opening night
at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan (Riccardo Chailly conducting); Lucia
di Lammermoor (Enrico Ashton) in Trieste; Puccini's Trittico
(Michele and Gianni) in Ferrara; Cavalleria Rusticana and Tutino's
La Ciociara (Giovanni), in the world première of the opera, at the
Teatro Lirico in Cagliari; Tosca (Scarpia) on tour in Italy
(Brescia, Cremona, Como, Bergamo and Pavia) and at the Teatro dell'Opera
in Rome; Cavalleria Rusticana at the Teatro del Maggio in Florence
and Un Ballo in Maschera in Darmstadt.
Most recently he took part in Tosca in Cagliari, Tel Aviv
(concert version), Rome and Jesi; Andrea Chénier in Trieste and
Toulon; Aida e Nabucco in Split; Pagliacci at the
Teatro del Maggio in Florence; Rigoletto in Lipsia, Modena and
Stuttgart; Tosca in Torre del Lago; Adriana Lecouvreur in Genoa
and Catania; Cavalleria Rusticana and Ernani in Cagliari;
La Fanciulla del West in Pavia and Brescia; Giovanna d'Arco
and Un Ballo in maschera in Modena and Reggio Emilia; La
Bohème in Toulon; Rigoletto and Pagliacci in Trieste
and Simon Boccanegra in Parma; Madama Butterfly in
Brescia, Como, Cremona, Lucca, Bergamo, Pavia; Tutino's La Ciociara at
the Wexford Opera Festival; Spontini's La Vestale in Thessaloniki
and Nabucco in Savonlinna.
Plans include: Tosca (Il Barone Scarpia) in Metz, Livorno and Pisa; Otello (Iago) in
Palermo; and Rigoletto in Turin.
