Davide Giangregorio - Bass - V Print

He graduated from the “Nicola Sala” Conservatoire in Piano performance and Opera, there he also studied Organ and Chamber music. He studied style and praxis of the baroque repertoire with contralto Sonia Prina. Currently he studies with the mezzo Chiara Chialli. In 2012 he made his debut singing Don Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the 51° Stresa Festival. In 2013 he won 67th competition of Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto where he performed Guglielmo in Così fan tutte. In the same year he was admitted at Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro with Alberto Zedda, singing at XXV Rossini Opera Festival in Il Viaggio a Reims. In 2018 he won “XLVIII Toti dal Monte Competition” in Treviso and in 2019 he won 70th “As.Li.Co.” singing competition in Como. First price and best bass price at “Giulio Neri” International Singing Competition 2021 and Mozart price at “Viñas Competition” 2022 in Barcelona.

Recent and future engagements include: Alidoro in La Cenerentola at the Teatro Petruzzelli Bari, Teatro Lirico  Cagliari and Teatro Maria Callas Athene, Alfonso d’Este in Lucrezia Borgia at the Teatro Comunale Bologna and Stadttheater Essen, Leporello in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Comunale Sassari, Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore   at the Teatro dell’Opera Roma, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro and Le Gouverneur in Le Comte Ory at the Teatro Comunale Bologna, the return at the Rossini Opera Festival as Licinio in Aureliano in Palmira, the debut as Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Israeli Opera Tel Aviv.

Main engagements, in the previous seasons, include: Osmin in Mozart’s Zaide   at the Opera di Roma conducted by Daniele Gatti and directed by Graham Vick, Mustafà in Adina at the Rossini Opera Festival, Ferrando in Il Trovatore at the Macerata Opera Festival, the title role of Le Nozze di Figaro   in Treviso, Ferrara e Jesi, Blansac in   La Scala di seta in a ROF tournè at the ROH in Muscat (Oman), Rodolfo in La Sonnambula and Walter in Guglielmo Tell for AsLiCo, Togrul in A. Casella’s La donna serpente at the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca under the baton of Fabio Luisi, Gaudenzio in Il signor Bruschino at the   Teatro la Fenice in Venice, Colline in La Boheme at the Teatro Regio Turin, the title role of Noye Fludde by B. Britten in Sassari, Masetto in Don Giovanni for AsLiCo directed by Graham Vick, and also at the Theater Basel, Teatro La Fenice and Stadttheater Klagenfurt.

About the baroque repertoire: In 2021 He took part at the Monteverdi Festival playing Plutone in Orfeo and Plutone in Monteverdi’s Il Ballo delle ingrate at the Teatro Ponchielli Cremona. He sang some first performances in modern times such as the role of Polinestore in A. Lotti’s Polidoro at the Teatro Olimpico Vicenza and Plutone in N. Porpora’s Orfeo at the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca. He sang Achilla in Giulio Cesare at the Cairo Opera House, Jesus in Bach’s Johannes Passion at the Cathedral of Vicenza, Ubaldo in La serva padrona at the Palazzo Leoni Montanari in Vicenza.

He sang sacred and symphonic music: Mozart’s Mass in ut min at the Auditorium S. Cecilia in Rome, Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle di Rossini and Mozart’s Requiem at the Teatro Carlo Felice Genova, Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem at the Teatro San Carlo Neaples, Mozart’s Kroenungmesse and Beethoven’s   Ninth Symphony at the Sacred Music Festival in Vatican, Petite Messe at the Teatro Olimpico Vicenza, Haydn’s Missa in illo tempore at the Cathedral of Como and S. Agostino’s Church in Cremona.

He sang also some contemporary music world premieres: 5th Woman in G. Battistelli’s CO2 at the Teatro alla Scala directed by Robert Carsen, Araldo in S. Sciarrino’s Il canto s’attrista, perchè? at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt, the main charachter in S. Steen-Andersen’s The return at the La Biennale in Venice, Dante in S. Monterisi’s Schicchi e Puccini at the Teatro Municipale Piacenza.
