voice, noble in sound and with a smooth vocal line," Dario Russo has had
the opportunity to perform for prestigious national and international
opera houses, including Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro San Carlo in
Naples, the Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro Petruzzelli
in Bari, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Teatro Regio in Parma, the Rome Opera
House, ABAO in Bilbao, Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, Opéra National
de Lorraine, and the Royal Opera House in Muscat.
Under the baton of conductors such as Fabio Luisi, Nello Santi, Donato
Renzetti, Jesús López-Cobos, Charles Édouard Dutoit, Pier Giorgio Morandi,
and Daniele Callegari, and directed by the likes of Laurent Pelly, Robert
Carsen, Claus Guth, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Gianni Amelio, Gabriele Lavia, and
Davide Livermore, Dario Russo has made his debut in numerous roles,
including: Attila (Attila), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Count Walter
(Luisa Miller), Henry VIII (Anna Bolena), Sir Giorgio (I
puritani), Count Rodolfo (La Sonnambula), Colline (La
Bohème), Oroveso (Norma), Banquo (Macbeth), Ramfis (Aida),
Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Padre Guardiano (La forza del
destino), Timur (Turandot), Don Basilio (The Barber of
Seville), and Polibio (Demetrio e Polibio).
Dario Russo also pursues an intense concert activity that ranges from
chamber music to sacred repertoire, including Schubert’s Winterreise,
Verdi’s Requiem, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem,
Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle and Stabat Mater,
Dvořák’s Stabat Mater, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9,
Handel’s Coronation Anthems, Mendelssohn’s Die erste
Walpurgisnacht, and Gomes’ Colombo.
He boasts a video discography of rare works recorded for labels such as
Decca, Bongiovanni, Dynamic, Naxos, and C-Major, which includes
Donizetti’s Gemma di Vergy and Il castello di Kenilworth,
Lindpainter’s Il vespro siciliano, Verdi’s I masnadieri, I
vespri siciliani, and La forza del destino, Respighi’s La
campana sommersa, and Gomes’ Colombo.
