Born in Messina, he began his musical studies in his hometown at the
Arcangelo Corelli Conservatory under the guidance of Maestro Bevacqua.
After winning first prize at the International "Giuseppe Di Stefano"
Competition in Trapani, in 1996 he debuted the roles of Don Ottavio at the
Politeama in Lecce and Nemorino in Pistoia.
Since then, he has embarked on an international career that has taken
him to some of the world's major stages, including: Teatro alla Scala,
Metropolitan in New York, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra National de Paris,
Staatsoper and Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich,
Teatro Real in Madrid, Liceu in Barcelona, New National Theatre in Tokyo,
Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Rossini Opera Festival in
Pesaro, collaborating with important conductors including: Valerij
Gergeev, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Daniele Gatti, Alberto Zedda, Renato
Palumbo, Roberto Abbado, Bruno Campanella, Donato Renzetti, Yves Abel and
Michele Mariotti.
A refined Rossinian singer, Antonino Siragusa is the ideal interpreter
of Conte d'Almaviva (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and has quickly made it his
role of choice, presenting it in some of the great theatres such as Wiener
Staatsoper, Staatsoper and Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Opéra National de
Paris, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Hamburgische Staatsoper, De
Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam, New National Theatre in Tokyo, NCPA in
Beijing, Opera Company of Philadelphia, Teatro del Maggio Musicale
Fiorentino, Teatro Lirico in Cagliari, Teatro Regio in Turin, Teatro
Filarmonico in Verona, Teatro Comunale in Bologna and Teatro Massimo in
Palermo.
A regular guest at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, he has taken
part in numerous productions, including Otello, Il viaggio a
Reims, La scala di seta, La gazzetta, L'equivoco
stravagante, Elisabetta, regina d'Inghilterra, Ermione,
Tancredi e Armida and in 2015 Ciro in Babilonia, in
which he played Baldassare to great public and critical acclaim. More
recently, he has taken part in productions of Otello and Semiramide.
In recent years, he has successfully performed several Verdi titles such
as Rigoletto at the Liceu de Barcelona, Falstaff at the
Carlo Felice in Genoa and the Opéra de Nice, Un giorno di regno at
the ABAO Bilbao and La Traviata at the Teatro della Fortuna in
Fano.
Important productions in which he took part include: Armida at
the Metropolitan in New York, Semiramide and L'Elisir d'amore
at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Guillaume Tell (Arnold) and La
Cenerentola at the Zurich Opernhaus, Zelmira at the Opéra
de Lyon, La Sonnambula, Gianni Schicchi,
La Cenerentola, Il Barbiere di Siviglia and L'Elisir
d'amore at the Wiener Staatsoper, Elisabetta, regina
d'Inghilterra and I Puritani at the Monnaie in Brussels, Semiramide
and La Donna del Lago at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Il
Barbiere di Siviglia and I Puritani at the Bayerische
Staatsoper in Munich, L'italiana in Algeri at the Staatsoper in
Berlin, Petite Messe Solennelle at the Théatre des Champs-Elysées
de Paris and with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Don Giovanni
conducted by Riccardo Muti at the Teatro alla Scala, Oedipus Rex
at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
